FDR wasn’t pro Russia so much as he was anti Hitler and functioning under “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.” And we and the rest of our allies did plenty of heavy lifting.

They weren't our ally. They were the enemy of our enemy. We helped them fight Nazis but that was pretty much where the relationship ended. Remember that Patton said we should keep our tanks rolling all the way to Moscow.

How is Russia against China? Russia has been hard at work with China to create a new banking system and in improving trade. Russia is willingly putting itself deeply in hock to China to help win the Ukraine war, to the point where Russia will probably have to sign a chunk of its far east over to China. Russia is not at all in any meaningful opposition to China.

Trump isn’t anti-China at all. He’s anti-Asian people, that much we saw around covid, but as other PPs have shown, he’s pretty staunchly pro-China itself.

And we know he’s incredibly pro-Russia. Nancy Pelosi alluded to it in a recent interview. ““You wonder, what does Putin have on Donald Trump that he always has to be beholden to him, his buddy... in vileness?" said Pelosi.
