Fight btw BCC & WJ students after game @ 8:30 Friday night

BCC parent here. There need to be consequences/punishment for all involved, regardless of school or race. AND there needs to be help for these kids who have so much anger and aggression. Expelling them from school and putting him in jail isn’t going to solve the problem, as they’ll just continue the cycle of aggression/arrest when they come out. Black or white, these kids clearly need help.

Who won the game?

Is MCPS finally realizing that removing all discipline from high schools is not a good thing. Teenagers are still kids and need firm boundaries in place to feel secure and function at their best

This issue is much bigger than MCPS.

Wasn’t there also a fights last fall, around the Bethesda metro, between these 2 schools after a football game?

2021 email from principals:

“ Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School Students taunted Walter Johnson High School students and vandalized the bus transporting Walter Johnson players as they attempted to return to their home campus. Following this, there were reports of an altercation involving multiple students in downtown Bethesda.”

You can see the aggressor in the first video in the second video. He is wearing all black with distinctive white socks. He’s not white.

No one can with the lighting, shadows and reflections

You can see his face when he stands up and walks away from the kid on the ground.

All of this is horrible. There should have been a police and WMATA police presence with a known history of issues.

Anyone have an update on the hospitalized victim?

It's just another strong indicator of MCPS decline when students at these schools act like gang members.

It’s likely because they ARE gang members.

This is sick, all these people need help. At this point race does not matter. What matters is there are two HUMANS on the ground, getting kicked and stomped in the head when they are already down. This was not assault, this was attempted murder. If anyone knows anything they better turn them in, otherwise they are just as sick and this will keep happening.

Ha ha. Mooney is having a bad week. The Washington Post has an article on the front page of the metro section about the BCC teacher who is suing him and MCPS

Link? I just searched and didn’t find it.

Look for the headline “Montgomery teacher alleges in a lawsuit he was falsely accused of racism”

I know this a joke but WJ by a lot. Perhaps BCC should announce now they will be forfeiting next year’s game. It probably won’t impact the team’s standing but would send a message to its students.

Messaging from principals of the two schools in an email today is that there were large groups of students from both schools fighting. This is NOT the case. Several WJ students who were either alone or in a small groups were brutally jumped/attacked by larger mobs of others. They may or may not have all been BCC students as the aggressors.

My children were at the game (WJ students) and both shared that the game itself felt safe and well-managed. Attendance was limited AND the game started earlier than other games during the season.

There is a strong possibility that many of the aggressors in Bethesda were not even at the game and just waited for it to get out.

And this is from 2022.

These kids don’t know how to behave. Law enforcement should have been in the area in anticipation of a fight.

I was a brown kid in school in the late 1980s and got told by my teachers that I looked like other brown kids (who looked nothing like me except that we were all brown). I was delighted to receive Mooney’s email last school year and learn that teachers are not supposed to say those things.

+1 This was not just two kids getting into an argument. That was horrific. A bunch of thugs going after one kid. I would be livid.
