Tell me you don’t understand that votes like that 1-vote margin are negotiated by the party in a supermajority before they occur without telling me you don’t know that.

Relative degree of privilege is not measured via how many votes you do or don’t get.

I know Tennessee well. I am from the Kingsport area where people identify their church affiliation when they first meet. Also, a lot of them are on the dole for “disability” while worrying about what the blacks in town are getting in terms of benefits. They think they are good people. They are not.

Lived in northeast Tennessee for years. It’s gorgeous. The people? Not so much. Nothing about Tennessee policy today says they love children. You can’t just bleat “Jesus Loves Me, this I know” and poof you’re good.

This is a state that enacted anti-trans legislation in the name of protecting children but will shrug at doing anything about guns after children are shot dead.
