Michigan boosters insecurity ends up broadcasting little known facts like Ann Arbor having exponentially more violent crime than College Park and a sky high rate of students considering suicide. Meanwhile humble UMD is safer, happier and has more football nattys in the modern TV era. Michigan boosters should lay low and their insecurity is causing harm. |
Ann Arbor and the entire university has only gotten more bougie, for lack of a better word. The town offers a lot of art/music and has a foodie culture. All of the university housing and classrooms have all been refurbished since I was there in the late 80’s/90’s. College Park didn’t have that feeling when I was there for the recent football game, but I guess people look for different things. |
“If you care what others think, want a great college town, and don't want to run the risk of getting mugged, Michigan.
You won’t get mugged, raped, or robbed in College Park since they don’t report them neighborhood scout. |
Saying the same things over and over again won’t change the fact that your local school of choice is not comparable. I’m going to Michigan = ooooh I’m going to Maryland= ewww |
“Michigan boosters should lay low and their insecurity is causing harm.”
Really? Feeling suicidal in College Park? |
UMD has had one official NCAA championship in its history. |
I’m going to Michigan .. dark, cold, high crime, suicidal, poor state.
I’m going to UMD (ooooh sounds like university of medical doctor) lower crime, better weather, richer state, inside beltway of worlds most powerful city, more modern era football nattys, more daylight, happier for good reason. |
Michigan has 1/2 a championship since 1950 UMD has 1 That’s 100 percent more |
We just visited univ Michigan and we were expecting something different. Walked around Ann Arbor and campus. Homeless and high/drunk randos roaming around. Boarded up housing. It was actually sketchy is some areas. Smell of weed was rampant compared to other schools we visited on this trip. We were so excited about this being a possibility and my daughter crossed it off her list. Have not visited Maryland but a relative did and said it was nicer than they had heard. If we make it to the east coast we will consider it since the price is right and it is ranked highly in many programs. |

Maryland is a rich state. It’s not a fair comparison. If Maryland was poor like Michigan it would be sketchy too. Now Ann Arbor having such a high violent crime rate would be an issue for me. |

It’s just a more put-together area and a lot more interesting. The beach, mountains, north, south, bay, food, cultural attractions, pro sports, overall academic community… vastly superior plus a ton less violent crime. |
Agree. The UMD people are running rings around the U Mich folks. It’s eye opening. |
Since when did College Park get a beach and mountains? 🤔 |
