So are descendants of England and other founding settlers. What the OP meant by ethnic meant that they were very much still tied to their countries of origin.

I have had just too many experiences where someone says "I'm x nationality!" And you start talking to them in their supposed mother tongue and they dont actually speak it. You're just American. And I am also just American bc when I go to my supposed homeland, it is culturally different from how I was raised... as an American.

That’s a direct result of racism that was experienced by many white people despite the popular narrative these days about being privileged. They were so “privileged” that they had to abandon their own culture in order for their family to be accepted in America. And now they get to be told that they have no ethnicity.

It seems like a fitting rite of passage to assimilation for these white ethnic groups to hate non-white groups. It's the American Way.

Are the WASPs so far removed from their own bigotry and hate towards others that they have forgotten their storied past? How do you not recognize your ancestors in the rhetoric spewed by these white ethnic MAGA supporters?

No, but at the same time we realize it's not helpful for the society created here to have all of these groups fighting each other. It's a similar way of I guess asking people to become American rather than ethnic American.

No. Midwestern Scandinavians are Homestead Act settlers. They are tough, hard-scrabble, farming-subzero-temperature-lands people.

Yankee WASPs are wealthy merchant class. They are more cultured in the traditional sense.

In Hunger Games terms, Midwestern Scandinavians are District 9 and Yankee WASPs are District 1.

And it shouldn't surprise anyone that these groups have bought into MAGA ideas because they see themselves as still struggling for acceptance from their more established white counterparts. The white elites (WASPs) of this country have always used "poor" whites as a buffer between the classes and the races - it's how they maintain the hierarchy. Democrats equally pander to minority groups in order to further divide.
