Anyone else notice that “white ethnics” are more maga than DAR/mayflower/wasp types?

Within the white population has anyone else noticed that white-ethnics (Italians, polish, Eastern Euro, Irish) seem to be have a higher incidence of maga than mayflower whites/dar eligible types.

Thoughts? Isn’t this the exact opposite of 20-30 years ago?

I spend a lot of time in Monmouth and Ocean County, NJ, so, YES. Yes, I have noticed this. These areas have always trended Republican, though.

Yes. I live in Upstate NY and the Republican Party is dominated by Italian-Americans. Honestly it’s just pure racism.

What are DAR/mayflower/wasp types?

And, how do you identify a "white ethnic?" Do they wear a scarlet "W" so you can be sure to spot them?

Can we stop “othering” people? It’s not a good look no matter who’s doing it.

Oh, that's easy. Because they've only been invited to the "white" club most recently (mostly post-WW2). Their position within the dominant caste is most tenuous and therefore, they are most extreme in terms of enforcing racial lines of demarcation.

The Italians in NY/NJ have resisted the D trend of suburbia. Nassau, Suffolk, Bergen etc. should be 10 points more D than they actually are. The difference seems to be the Italian vote.

Are you kidding? Have you been in this country for only two weeks?

This is basically what we have in the Boston suburbs too

Because the groups you mentioned tend to be LMC and are sick of being called “privileged” and “trashy.”

Democrats decided they no longer cared about blue collar union workers. Those workers are voting republican now

Which makes no sense since the GOP hasn't met a union it didn't want to bust.

And democrats haven't seen a steel mill or a coal mine that they didn't want to regulate out of existence. That's before we get to NAFTA (kind of surprising that the party who is supposedly pro-labor is also the anti-protectionist party) or non-economic issues

In blue collar Massachusetts the democrats have completely lost the white male vote. Women not as much. I see it at every family gathering. The men are for some reason convinced that the gop is for them and the Dems only for transsexuals and latinx drag queens. The Dems have themselves mostly to blame for this one
