Anyone else notice that “white ethnics” are more maga than DAR/mayflower/wasp types?

+1 the WASPY people I knew from Connecticut or the Boston suburbs were more Rockefeller Republicans, Romney-to-Clinton voters. Now voting Biden.

And that's exactly what the GOP has tapped into and promoted - that the "other" is responsible for their miserable lives.

Yes, true. They're angry because someone's "taking," or has already taken, something from them... and they're right, someone has... but it's not blacks, or Mexicans, or drag queens. It's American corporatism (a shout-out to the Kochs!)

The GOP plays these poor donkeys like fiddles. As but one example, they hate(d) the effort of "Obamacare" to deliver universal coverage, but struggle with health bills, go without treatment.... etc. etc. etc.

Blacks who immigrated from Africa (not carribean) are more conservative and GOP supporting. Old school Jack and Jill types are also more rockefeller republicans. African American whove been going to college for several generations or just lived NORTH or West, long out of the south and/or were financially successful were uniformly Republican until FDR started to appeal to the working class and then both parties started switching constituencies, there are a lot of old money AADS who are still republican in the same way that you have southern democrats.

I married into an old money family who has always been Republican but are not MAGAs or Trump supporters. My FIL had some dealings with Trump that went sour, so he's not been a fan for decades.

My ILs very much miss the old Republican party and cannot stand the current popular players like Rubio, Cruz, and MTG. And don't even get him started on Musk or Rama-lama-ding-dong as he calls Ramaswamy.

Several of my ILs voted for Harris this last election cycle. Others abstained from voting for a presidential pick.

What I find interesting is that many in their circle, who are also Republicans, have more left-leaning views on things like abortion, birth control, immigration, etc.

They mean people who are caucasian but speak a language other than english. It's most definitely a different identity box, not just a political construct. They largely socialize in ethic groups where they speak their home language and don't really assimilate. You just haven't noticed them because they don't talk to you and they look white.

Which is fascinating because MAGA idolizes Northern European stock. It’s the purity that the despicable white nationalists want so badly.
