It counts. Apparently privates across the board are "overwhelmed" with a surge in applicants because of a sudden trend of choosing privates over publics.

Thanks. FWIW, it was Bullis, Norwood, SSFS, Green Acres, and Seneca Academy. We are full pay, but otherwise no hook. DC is a typical Jewish kid … a dime a dozen around here.

Your kid impressed them. Congrats!

Thanks! Hope it gives some hope to those waiting — good luck to everyone!

Will they all show up at once at the strike of 4 tomorrow (3/3/23)? Or is it up to the schools? Could one decide to release earlier?

Of course Informed Delivery is delayed today. Ugh! This day will be nerve wracking! Glad it’s almost over,

Last year, we got a call at around maybe 10:30am from one school. Then packages trickled in throughout the day. The last couple of schools we found out about at 4pm via their portal. All were acceptances.

We applied for PK and thought the interviews and playdates went well, but we do not have any hooks and understand the spots are very limited. It’s just kind of funny to me - normally when applying for something in my own life I’ve at least had a sense of whether I had a chance. With this I have absolutely no idea what to think. It’s a strange feeling.

Your chances are almost 0 at the top schools unless you're a very wealthy, a famous person or have connections to the school.
Almost everyone is in the same boat especially for the youngest kids when you don't have grades and an academic and extracurricular track record.

It's not a good feeling because it's so random and the criteria are not clearly laid out.

This simply isn't true. We are none of these things and got into multiple highly regarded schools. Now, at one of them, I see that this myth above isn't the reality at these schools.

Agree, we’re at a Big 3 and had no connections, were not wealthy (more wealthy now after 7 years), and were not famous. We applied with no expectation of getting in and were pleasantly surprised when we did.

Will the portal be slow at 4:00 today because of everyone logging in at the same time???

No; historically it can handle the traffic.

There are I think three generous posters who have helped give people advice during the process. I think one was 2/3 at top schools schools, another 3/3, another 4/4. I know at least one came from a private and at least one came from public. All unhooked.

Also thanks to those families for the tips and info.
