This!

Oh but dahling…that only leaves you exposed to more cancellations, over booked flights, time outs.

The best option is to get on the app and rebook as soon as you know you’re going to miss your connection.

I’m stuck in Dallas and I’m jumping from one flight to the next. You can only get on one standby at a time.

Did you know Einstein Bagels are not good when they’re stale?

I would just rebook for several days into the future and go chill at a hotel. How long do you plan to torture yourself at the airport?

How lovely that you can are willing to spend a few days in a filthy dump of an airport hotel.

Some people are not lazy and have a life.

If the trip is less than 1,000mi and the roads are clear, this is the right answer.

1,500mi or more it depends on your pain tolerance. Would you rather sit in an airport or local hotel for two more days or get home after driving for more than 24hrs. Do you have more than one driver? Can you afford a hotel or two along the way, knowing SW will reimburse you?

yes. Reserve a car just in case because those are becoming unavailable too

Not an airport hotel, a good hotel, and it would be the heck out of the STL airport; where you will be for the next 3-4 days! Have fun!

You are going to get home the same time, whether you park it at the airport or a nice hotel. You are kidding yourself that sitting there is expediting anything. The only thing that will speed it up is driving yourself home.

I am older and 1800 miles from destination and I’m traveling alone. I had a funny thought. Did you see the video of the group of people who were all on a flight that was canceled and they rented a van a drove to, I think it was Atlanta? Maybe this will be the new normal.

I'm the PP you responded to, and glad you can make the trip alone. Safe travels! I thought of that same video as well and wonder how many similar stories are playing out over the last few days.

Enjoy your drive.

Some of these posts are just so classic DCUM. It's YOUR fault you are suffering and stranded in an airport due to an unprecedented confluence of circumstances during one of the busiest times of the year. You totally should have planned better.

Of course it’s not their fault. But pouting and stomping their feet or having unrealistic expectations of a solution falling in their lap isn’t going to help them.

And if you had the nerve to travel to see family at Christmas without an extra $5000 (again, at Christmas) to easily dump on backup travel arrangements, well, that’s what you get for thinking you had any right to travel on a budget!

Ha! I’m actually surprised no one has posted this as serious feedback. Especially the energetics who will stay at the airport no matter how long they have to wait for another flight.

These responses are a riot.

No one has any idea of what they’re talking about.

Book a rental car now. You’re not getting there on Southwest.

Seriously. These last few years have me really regretting moving so far away from my family. It used to be easy and inexpensive to visit 2-3 times a year, now it’s tripled in price and stress. It’s a 27 hour drive and my max is 12
