A politician’s house was shot at, narrowly missing his sleeping children, and all you can do is try disprove that this really happened and was politically motivated because the politician happens to have an R after his name.

He filed a police report as soon as he realized what happened. Why did the media not report sooner? That’s on the media to explain.

Let me say it again louder for those in the back. THE POLITICIAN'S HOUSE WAS NOT SHOT AT. It was the politician's PARENTS' house that was shot at. It likely has absolutely nothing to do with the campaign. Hunting season. Hickory, North Carolina. Police mention nothing about a motive or an investigation. Methinks the GOP candidate suddenly thought it would be a good idea to use this incident as a way to sway voters to his side.

You are the equivalent of the right wing troll saying Pelosi was hooking up.

Two weeks later, Harrigan’s campaign decided to blame it on his opponent’s ad that showed a different house in Hickory to say that Harrigan doesn’t live in the district and didn’t rent an apartment in the district and change his voter registration until after he started his campaign. It’s a legitimate political issue to raise. It’s ridiculous to link the ad to the shot based on the known facts.

So basically the GOP candidate didn’t want people to know that he doesn’t live in the district and wanted the ad pulled away. So he connected the shooting incident with the ad and Democratic candidate being a good human being pulled the ad out of caution…

There is no reason EVER to show the home or immediate neighborhood in an attack ad on a candidate. How do you NOT know this could be a danger?

Unless you live here in North Carolina, then you probably don't know that this district is a newly created district due to the GOP's latest gerrymandering. The ad in question was showing that the GOP candidate doesn't even live in this newly created district, and the ad was filmed from miles away. IT WAS NOT THE HOUSE THAT WAS SHOT AT. His parents' house was shot at! And the Dem candidate pulled the ad out of an abundance of caution after the incident.

By the way, it's 2022. I can look up any candidate's address on this nifty new tool called the Internet.

Read the post directly above if you are so confused. The R tried to intentionally mislead the public with accusations against his opponent. The details certainly matter.

Yes, there is an article in the Charlotte Observer today stating that WITHOUT EVIDENCE the GOP candidate is blaming the incident on being politically motivated.

I’m well aware. The ad was filmed near his lake home. And the nutters on the inter web that are provoked by the ad can use it to harrass his folks

I’m astounded that this comment hasn’t been deleted. The double standards here are off the charts.

Thank you. Sometimes this place depresses me due to all the crazy.

The very same people who were apoplectic about any questions being asked over the Pelosi attack are the ones find it perfectly acceptable doing *exactly the same thing* when a Republican is involved. Disgusting people.

It’s ridiculous this hasn’t been moved to Off-Topic. This wasn’t the home of a candidate. There is zero evidence this was a crime or that the home was targeted in any way. It’s red meat for loonies.

But PP is correct, it was his parents’ house.

Yes. There should be a lodged bullet or bullet fragments inside the house.

Honestly, the fact that question was even asks tells me loads

It was in response to other questions that have since been deleted. Someone said they heard a rumor it came from the homeowner from inside, and I was skeptical because I thought the authorities could tell if it was from the outside or inside. I was asking the conspiracy theory nutters to stop and think for themselves, but in a rational, non-confrontational way.

I believe the police reports and charging documents in both cases. Oh wait, there are no documents in NC, other than a press release from the campaign manager blaming the opponent with no evidence.
