And Winona Ryder weeps. I think the two of them should have stayed together.

He was no less volatile. He’s just getting old and careless about it. And all of you who are taking the absence of evidence of him being abusive as proof he isn’t: people just did not talk about domestic abuse in the 1990s, certainly not famous people.

I have never heard anything that would lead me to believe he was abusive towards Winona Ryder. Didn't she say the exact opposite?

I'm just sayin', they should have stayed together.

I don't remember if it was Winona or Kate Moss, but in the 1990s there was at least one incident where he had an incident with one of them that was so bad the authorities were called and when they arrived, he had completely destroyed the hotel room. Glass everywhere, furniture broken and thrown across the room, etc. So I think he does have long-time rage issues at the very least.
Pretty sure even he admit that. Doesn’t mean he ever was physically abusive toward his partners.

Good Lord, this thread is Exhibit A of why women who are physically and emotionally abused by their partners don’t come forward. There doesn’t have to be a “past history”. Plenty of abusers escalate abuse over time and the first time they physically abuse someone is just as damaging as the 100th. How do you think domestic violence is perpetuated?!! Do you think would-be abusive boyfriends and husbands wear signs that say, “I’ve done this before.” Good for previous girlfriends and wives if they were spared, though Johnny Depp has a LONG history of unstable relationships, Moss and Ryder included.

Given how easily you fly off the handle, I guess it’s easy for you to recognize others with rage problems.

Deflection is an abuser’s tool. This touched a nerve for you didn’t it?
What’s that saying? Oh right, Pot meet kettle.

Why are you picking a fight with a poster, PP? The post you responded to wasn’t “rage”, it was making a legit point. You disagree, fine. But now you want to pick a fight? Move along and stop with the name calling and trolling. Are you here to discuss Depp/Heard or are you here to pick fights with people you don’t even know?

I Googled for an update and found a segment by Court TV. I didn’t know Vinnie Politan was here to cover the trial, here’s his analysis:

“ Depp’s case is unusual for another reason. According to Freeman, “Johnny Depp sued Amber Heard in this case but not The Washington Post. Generally speaking, in nine out of 10 cases, in a libel case you sue the media that publishes as well as the person who is making the accusation. Yet he never sued The Washington Post in this case, which leads to the conclusion that this is really, in the end, a marital fight that has now grown into the American court system.” Yep.

It certainly is interesting watching the live feeds. Everyone seems to be Team Johnny and I can’t understand it. Johnny’s sister looks ridiculous on the stand - so clearly lying. Acting like she doesn’t have a vested financial interest in Johnny’s company.

Because he’s basically got the MRA freaks on his side and they came out of the woodwork to defend him. I have a (woman) friend who is, let’s say, somewhat of a male chauvinist. She’s not one of “those girls,” she’s “different,” she’s “chill.” She watched one of the videos explaining how Amber “made it all up” and she really believes that. There are a lot of women like her (men too, but you’d think women would try to understand).

I don't get what he thinks he will gain from this unless it's just to be petty (and I thought he was broke so it's a stupid thing to be broke, petty and throw thousands at legal costs). It seems like his career is over even if he is vindicated. He's nearing 60 and should of had a pile of cash to retire on. The idea that his career will be the same as when he was in his prime is ridiculous.

Especially since he may end up paying her legal costs. The legal costs here could easily be in the millions.

Even if he wins she can’t pay the judgment. And even if he proves she lies….so much has come out about his unprofessionalism and addiction issues that his career is still effed.

This. She proved his addictions, so he's uninsurable so he can't work.

He also can't work because he's been unreliable on movie sets.
