So many elements of youth sports are “money grabs”. You have to determine which ones are beneficial. With the girls’ side adding so many “elite showcases” it dilutes the pool of talent at any given one. With club affiliations it skews the results. Not saying it is the end all, be all, but last year most 23 games had 15-20 coaches in attendance over the first two days. (many coaches left for 3rd day to go to under armour).

As for the value for younger girls, its a chance to get some good film and play against quality talent.

15-20 coaches per game is NOT a lot - I heard there were a lot more than that

Last year is not the best year to judge it, as a number of coaches were also going to watch 22's in person, as a number had not seen their commits play in person in a while due to covid restrictions. So '22 games would get some giving a look in, which dilutes it for '23s. This year is different, as coaches have seen their '23s and probably had/will have them in camps by then, so they don't care anymore, as they've seen them a lot.

Poster is right, 15-20 coaches is not a lot for a showcase like this. 30-50 should be the norm and what the '24's should draw per game this year

There is likely a huge political fight underway at the highschool level with the low-end clubs like YJMA, YJS, and even Pride at this point (sadly), fighting to get coaching spots. The only clubs that should really get coaching spots are Capital and maybe VA Metro - for high school. The 8th grade spot should go to Stars or Pride as those are best 2 clubs by far for ‘26.

That would actually be a decent way to do it — best team for age.

Why does coaching even matter at a showcase event? Its all about performing in front of coaches, especially for 24s and some 25s.

Even the best coach on the planet isn't going to be running plays or putting in an offense at this event.
