Youngkin or McAuliffe

We had enough social damage caused by the perpetual orange face liar. Virginia needs a moderate blue to keep us calm and growing on.

Voted Terry because of this sort of stuff. This is what will be mainstreamed in Virginia if Youngkin is elected.

I see Youngkin is sending out his surrogates to promote the Big Lie again.

Good for Wilder for calling out the hypocrisy.

Former Democratic Virginia Gov. Douglas Wilder, the commonwealth's first Black governor, condemned the campaign of Virginia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe for launching a video to play at Black churches after the service in which Vice President Kamala Harris urges churchgoers to vote for McAuliffe. Lawyers have suggested that when churches play the video, they violate Section 501(c)3 of the IRS code, potentially imperiling their tax-exempt status.

"Well, it’s very good for her to do that, causing these churches to lose their tax-exempt status," Wilder quipped in remarks to The Washington Examiner, referring to the Johnson Amendment, which bans organizations that are exempt from taxes under 501(c)3 from supporting candidates. "If this is legal, then it’s surprising to me."

“The people of Virginia have not forgotten. They are not stupid. They are not fooled, they are not being hoodwinked," Wilder said. "Terry … you said [Northam] was in blackface. He's got to go. Have you changed your mind about any of this? And if not, then why not? Now, explain to the people of the commonwealth."

Thank you, Doug Wilder, for speaking the truth here. Terry is a perpetual liar.

+1. I always liked Doug Wilder. Really nice to hear his take ion this

It takes courage for anyone in the political establishment to speak out about what a fake Terry McAuliffe is, so it means a lot when a former Democratic Governor like Doug Wilder speaks the truth.

Exactly.

This should be driving people to vote (and not toward Youngkin). It's a bit scary to see these tactics again.

What have you always liked about Wilder? Which of his political views aligned with yours before this election?

Wilder didn't support Obama in 2012. That's what PP likes about him.

The national spotlight on VA has become a total embarrassment between the Charlottesville trial and this farce of an election. Two terrible candidates indeed. But we are going down a dangerous path if Youngkin gets in and becomes just as crazy as his supporters. I think he’s fooling a lot if people now.

Absolutely. The Republicans party was planning to overthrow the election in 2020 — see the Eastman memo and the insurrection. That did not work but they didn’t give up. The plan now centers on electing R legislators and governors so they can select election outcomes. Laws are already passed in some states, like GA, to allow this.

Why are people falling for culture wars when our democracy at stake? Youngkin hasn’t denounced those trump-led efforts but has spoken very positively about him. He is no Hogan or Cheney. He is not standing up to the corruption in his party, he is echoing it with his focus on election integrity when we had fine elections and actions and statements of his surrogates, like Chase.

And the House is very likely to flip R — it is a small margin.
