Youngkin or McAuliffe

Who are you voting for/supporting? Glenn Youngkin or Terry McAuliffe or Princess Blanding if any of you are supporting her for some reason.

What we really need is yet another thread discussing this.

We only get the worst of the worst to choose from anymore. I saw a bumper sticker recently that said Huge Meteor 2024. About right.

+1 he’s moderate. Had the dem been super liberal, I might consider the R to balance the legislature but Youngkin is too far right.

I am not sure how this is even a question. On the one hand, you have a former governor who left the state in a far better economic condition than he found it, and on the other, you have trump junior.

youngkin. no question about it. Even as a former D i can see that the party has gone too far to the left.

+1

I was happy with McAuliffe’s last term. I’ll happily take him over any Trump Republican.

For those of us who aren't going to read the 156 pg thread - can you answer a few questions if you've following:

Is McAuliffe a progressive? I.e. is he trying to go the way of Bernie (or even Biden) with free everything? I know he was a good governor (though I only moved here at the end of his term) and the state since has been #1 of business many times. That to me is the most important thing - keep attracting new businesses and growing the state - EVEN IF that means you have to to give corporate tax breaks/incentives to get employers to come here. To me you'd think Youngkin's private equity background would be helpful here. But I'm also not interested in a covid denier who'll roll back vax mandates etc. (I assume he would since he's a Trump guy) - because part of a vibrant economy, is keeping it open.

I'm just less and less interested in the progressive policies, free money to individuals, diversity etc. (and no I'm not white) and more interested in economic growth because I think that lifts all ships (and I'm from a northern state where industry went away - I know how much people suffer then). Thoughts?

Also the Lt Gov candidate - Ayala - is a progressive right?

Basically what's the most moderate ticket I can vote for that cares about economic growth (and doesn't consist of covid deniers)?

McAuliffe is a moderate D with a solid plan. He has a proven track record from his last term as governor and can hit the ground running.

Virginia has been doing very well with Ds at the helm. Let’s keep moving forward.

^ he had some great ideas for rural areas

Overall, just a really well thought-out plan to raise up all Virginians across the state.

Well, if you consider imploding schools 'doing really well,' you have a pretty low standard. it's time for a change. Terry m was not a good gov and Gov Blackface was worse.

Was he a moderate before and now progressive because he knows that's what Dems want? Or is it all talk to get the Dem votes and then he ignores those progressive promises?

What progressive promises is he making?
