Who was this? It sounds vaguely familiar

I remeber him too. It was pre Covid. I really don’t think he was creepy. I actually only got nice vibes from him. I think he was bad at his job

There were several parents who communicated about him being creepy.

Wow. Did the school acknowledge and respond any of the concerns?
Who would be responsible for doing so?

This may be skewed thought because apparently moms here think just a guy working with children at a preschool is creepy. The guy is already battling an uphill battle because of profession he’s in

DP. Parents need to be careful labeling people on here. Just because someone seems odd does not mean they are a creep. For goodness sake. Without giving his name (please) can you give one example of a complaint? I am curious as I think I know who this is.

The conspiracy theorists really need to take a seat. Nobody was letting their kid get molested in the hope their kid would go to an ivy one day. I know that story gets you way more excited but this is about people’s lives. It’s not a situation where you should be hoping it’s more for your sick entertainment.

They “communicated” on this thread, not to the schools.

The guy slipped through the cracks but this isn’t a Harvey Weinstein situation where people covered for his perversion. They simply didn’t know.

There’s zero way for you to know they “simply didn’t know.” There could have been complaints they ignored or supressed. They could have created an atmosphere where people were afraid to complain.

The board is responsible for the placement of that man. Period. He's so creepy, why didn't a single one of them question if he was really the best fit? They're supposed to be the most "elite" of Washington, DC. But not a single one would dare question what had to have been an intuitive nagging that the guy was creepy. There are just too many people who felt it.

Exactly.

DP. We knew him (not from NCRC) and he did not come off as creepy. He came off as professional and good at his job. There was nothing strange. He was not warm or fuzzy or charming but honestly I can think of a lot of HOSs that are not warm or fuzzy (except with their beloved board members and VIPS). This is the norm in DC.

LOL all but like 3 went to private from my DDs graduating class from NCRC. It's why you go to NCRC is to get into a good private.

I heard he will appear in court on Monday. Details?

It’s an FBI affidavit and it has been posted multiple times.

You used to be able to see the staff listing and photos on the NCRC website but it’s all hidden behind passwords since the website redesign last year. Interesting decision. Who else did JC hire while he was there. The “mindful movement” guy? The director of the summer program? Both men.

I understand that emotions are running high after what happened, and protecting children is vital, but it’s harmful to make blanket assumptions about male preschool teachers based on one individual’s actions. As a male early childhood teacher, I’ve experienced the unfair scrutiny and mistrust that arise from these stereotypes (former BVR teacher post scandal years ago) and it not only hurts male educators but also discourages men from entering a profession that benefits from diverse role models for young children. Instead of targeting an entire group, focus should be on holding individuals accountable and creating systems of transparency and accountability.

Someone associated with Maret is the “most elite”’ in DC? Not familiar with that.

It’s disturbing you’re in denial that in fact heightened scrutiny of men attracted to professions that give them access to children is necessary.

Give it a rest already. You’re unhinged. And when you’re done resting, why don’t you try to develop your critical thinking skills. It’s despicable to harp on all men when the VAST majority of men would find pedophilia unthinkable.

Well said. Men targeting easy alone time with preschool children isn’t something most parents want.

This witch hunt is insane to me and is so indicative of the disturbing and deeply damaging gender norms in this country. The reason not many men are at preschools is because our society suggests that caring for children is the work of women. The male teachers I’ve interacted with at NCRC are kind, caring, and buck those damaging stereotypes. They are good men. They are the kind of role models I want my children to be around. They are as devastated as we are and prob knew they’d face this backlash yet still showed up to work this week to support the continuity of the school and a sense of normalcy for our children. To suggest there is something wrong with them and to make others wonder if they are pedophiles is so disgusting to me.

To be clear: I agree we need to push to ensure nothing terrible happened on the NCRC campus. I believe this was an isolated incident with one messed up individual but I will be cautious and eager for the independent investigation. But to suggest these male faculty and staff are likely abusers with absolutely zero evidence is so unbelievably damaging, offensive, and warped. Why would any male want to engage in this honorable and important profession when they can just expect to be treated like this. How dare you. STOP.
