I’d love to hear about favorite spring break trips, big and small, but I am looking for domestic ideas.
Thanks! |

We've done:
Great smokey mountains (gatlinburg/pigeon forge - like Ocean City in the middle of the mountains) Hilton Head Island (great for walking on the beach, too cold to swim) Arkansas - flew into Little rock, drove to Hot Springs National Park and crater of diamonds New Mexico - Flew direct to ABQ and drove to Santa Fe Best one was honestly Arkansas. The weather was perfect, Hot Springs was a really, really cool historic site, and the hiking was lovely. Hilton Head was too cold to really enjoy the beach, but kids had fun digging in the sand and it's open to dogs before memorial day so the dogs had a grand time running the beach. Pigeon Forge was like Temu disney...sooooo kid friendly with one million mini golf courses and arcades and such, but 3 days was plenty before I needed a break. Santa Fe was boring. No desire to ever go back. It felt like a cruise ship in the middle of the desert with a bunch of odd art galleries and jewelry shops. We filled 3 days with hiking, Meow Wolf, and an art class but it was a stretch with a lot of down time. |

Southern Arizona is great for spring break. Someplace I posted on here my itinerary but it was basically — hike in saguaro national forest and junior ranger badge; take the tour up Sabino canyon and hike down; horseback riding; Old Tucson (kitschy movie studio with fun stunt show); Sonoran desert museum (awesome outdoor zoo); day trip to bisbee and kartcher caverns; Pima air museum; lots of Mexican food. You could also add or sub in the children’s museum, the miniatures museum, the titan missle silo, Tucson zoo, pool time.
I think Puerto Rico would be great although we did that in November not spring break. One year we do Williamsburg and that was fun. Colonial stuff obviously but also Busch gardens and outlet mall shopping and we do one night at great wolf lodge so we could do the waterpark and wand game (one night there basically gets you two days). We’ve done Florida keys twice but I’m sort of down on it because both times our boat trips got cancelled for high seas. The beach was nice but it’s pretty expensive for what it is. |
| We had a good time in Charleston, SC. Patriots Point, Aquarium, plantation tour, boat tour to see dolphins, historical walking tour, shopping, fabulous food. |

| Key West; Universal; Vegas / Zion / Bryce |
| We liked the Vegas spring break trip - kids liked the arcades and good food, we saw a magician and one of the cirque de solei shows, and drove out to hike at red rocks one day and did Hoover Dam on a different day. Surprisingly fun. |

Re Arkansas- we spend a lot of spring breaks in Arkansas now that we live in Missouri. It's our favorite driveable spot. Our spring breaks here are end of March, so many destinations are still chilly, but skiing is hit or miss. Arkansas at least is usually warm enough to be doing things outside.
We did not love Hot Springs (it seemed run down), but we LOVE Bentonville - it is like mountain biking Disney world. There is also a world class museum, lakes, hiking, etc. We love Petit Jean State Park with younger or reluctant hikers- there are a lot of short trails with great pay offs (boulders to climb, caves, waterfalls). There is just a lot of pretty nature in general. We did end up once in NE Arkansas at a horseback riding place with confederate flags all around, that we had to turn around from, but I had a similar experience near Cooperstown, NY, so just do your research. I don't know how much I would go out of my way to get to Arkansas, but it is our favorite adjacent state. St. Louis is also super fun - but you have to know what to do and where to go! I find it easier than Chicago with kids. We have done a lot of the other recs on here - Arizona (Tuscon, Sedona), Puerto Rico, Universal- and also really enjoyed those for spring break! I love taking my kids to NYC (where I used to live) but I usually just go with one or two of the kids- it's not as fun with all 3, I find. Once they are all in middle school it will be easier to go with the whole family. |

Nobody is willingly going to Arkansas unless you are in a neighboring state or have family there.

She said domestic trips. |
| Road trip including Zion, Bryce, Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe bend, and Grand Canyon. We hiked a lot and loved it. We flew in and out of Vegas but I didn’t like it even for the few hours we spent there. |
