We tend to enjoy beach type trips for Spring Break.

We have done the Outer Banks. You can sit on the beach, but ocean water really not doable at that time. Still fun though.

We really enjoyed Charleston for a day or so and then the balance of the week at Isle of Palms. Weather was warmer overall.

Best weather has been in Florida. We stayed on Amelia Island one year. Beach as great, rented bikes for riding during the week. Really nice. Rented a house in West Palm Beach that had a pool. Loved that trip - again biked a ton and went to a bunch of the different beaches, did the whole Worth Avenue window shopping day, etc.

This one gets my vote too!

We had a really good time doing the AZ and Vegas thing one year.

AZ is beautiful in spring (uniquely so - not a big fan of it the other months) with the desert blooming. Flew into Phoenix, stayed at a resort and hiked on trails around the city outskirts; Drove to Sedona and hiked the rocks up there; Night in Flagstaff - hoped to do the observatory but it was too cloudy; Grand Canyon - kids loved the helicopter ride; and ended with Vegas which was a hit after all the nature - Omega Mart, New York New York arcade/coaster, walking the main street, hotel pool (kind of cold but pretty spot still), saw a show.

We did CA another year for spring break and that was not as great.

We also did Universal one year and that was fun since we stayed at one of the hotels w/ express passes - but the prices to stay there have by now gotten absolutely insane.

I’ve done a lot of these but my favorite was the Utah parks - Arches, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, Bryce and Zion. With a one-way car rental - Salt Lake City to Vegas, and one night in Vegas for Cirque du Soleil.

(mostly domestic with a little bit of Canada):
Niagara Falls-Buffalo-Toronto-Pittsburgh. Also stopped by Lake Erie to wade in the insanely cold water.

This was in conjunction with visiting family, but Cincinnati-Dayton area: Air Force Museum, Cincinnati Museum Center, zoo, Carillon Historical Park, etc. On the way there/back: Hopewell Mounds, Fort Necessity, Maryland state parks.

Our best domestic spring break trip was Northern California. We did San Francisco, Yosemite and Monterey. Weather was good and we enjoyed the beauty and variety of activities in the area.

Domestically, we’ve also done Puerto Rico (included a stay on the west side of the island, which was nice) and New York.

When our kids were younger we did a lot of these - hands down favorite was the middle keys around Marathon. More beaches there than Key West. More affordable. Could fly to Miami and rent a car. Lots of kid friendly attractions like a very solid aquarium and turtle rescue center. Also, Bahia Honda State Park is beautiful. We did Tucson one year which was good but there was a cold snap so instead of going to the rodeo my kids swam in the 80 degree pool in the snow. We have done two west coast college trips during spring break and those were very nice too.

Only ignorant people say this. Combine a great trip to Arkansas with sites along the way in TN. Beautiful nature, great history and delicious food.

Tucson rodeo is always in February so you couldn’t have done that during spring break anyway. Sigh—I miss getting rodeo off from school! Agree Tucson weather can be variable (except summer which is invariably hot) but with climate change it’s now really unusual to have cold days during spring break.

Best spring breaks were probably Scottsdale, Sedona, page/ antelope canyon/ horseshoe bend, Grand Canyon when they were teens.

Also during Covid with 9th and 7th grader, we did a road trip to Chicago, stopping in Pittsburgh, Notre dame/ south bend, and Ann Arbor in the way and back. You could also stop in Cleveland or Cincinnati. 3-4 days in Chicago in spring was fun.

Other week long trips we’ve liked, not at spring break but you could: NYC 3-4 days, Philly for 3-ish days, LA area for week, Yellowstone/grand Teton/ Jackson Hole, and of course Outer banks, Jersey shore and cape cod in summer.

What is the fixation here with Arkansas? Is it the new Ritz Carlton Dorado Reserve?
