We used to have a charter amendment that required a unanimous vote to increase spending faster than inflation and growth but then Andrew Friedson sponsored an amendment to fix the tax rate, so the county could increase revenue faster by capturing property appreciation. When he campaigned for the charter amendment, he lied to us and said a unanimous vote would be required to raise the rate.

It’s funny how we used to be able to pay for things just fine before we started giving huge tax breaks to developers. It’s almost as if we need everyone to pay taxes in order to afford things.

Developers were given tax breaks in order to add "affordable" housing. However, the people in affordable housing then need additional help from the county. So, you pay twice.

The negative net migration in this state is one of the largest in the country. It will only get worse as we are hit from moore and enrich with increases while budgets are mismanaged

The impact to this state and county will be felt for decades as the more wealthy leave and people dependent on services replace them.

I’m not a Democrat, except by registration. I’m a Socialist and I’m outspoken and proud of it. I’m registered as a Dem because it’s the only way I can have a voice in our silly two-party system. But Gen Z is entirely like me. And Socialism is the future. You will see that in time, and you’ll switch too.
