You are probably in the minority then. Others don’t want the hero’s competition coming back.

Why? I thought people wanted all the best local talent to tryout.

I want Capital to be very bad so my daughter, who is also very bad, can make the team. And just by having Capital on her resume she will be able to trick colleges into thinking she is good. Genius.

As cutting as this comment is, I do have to agree.

Would much rather have the CLC Blue team have the best players available then be less competitive at tryouts.

Some people do, but others know that any one of those mentioned players that return from Heros takes a spot from their kid. So those parents would rather be less competitive and have their kid have a spot on the team.

The majority of people do want this.

There are a select few that are against it though. It’s easy to see who they are

The All Tournament Teams are being released from the American Select Showcase l this week. I will be interested to see what DC/VA kids make it, if any from the 28 team. Then we will get to hear all about how their child is destined to play on Cap Blue now and go to UNC on a full ride🤣🤣🤣

No one will do that. Also, not clear that a team that didn't make the bracket will get a lot of names through.

Unfortunately, with the number of losses they had, they will be lucky to get two girls nominated under Honorable Mention. Which is ashame because there is Some talent on that team

There weren’t very many 2028 teams in the tournament as compared to other age groups. So, if the 28s get as many all tournament spots as the other age groups there will be a good chance some DC girls make it.

Any parent that mentions a full ride in a conversation, run away quickly. Not to say it can’t happen but it would be really rare.

Most scholarships will range from 10-30%. And not all schools are fully funded for lacrosse. Do your math. Add up all the club fees, the extra lessons, the showcase events plus travel. For many they will have spent $40-50K over their club lacrosse years per child.

This is why parents should think long and hard about events like AS. Is the juice really worth the squeeze. The costs add up quickly and the return is not great.

This is the first year rising 8th graders have had a team at AS. Money grab, too early, but hey, if girls who were there enjoyed it, thats what counts.

There's going to be some girls who pay full rate to play D1 lacrosse, and if the goal is to get your kid on a D1 team, then there's nothing wrong with that.

This is very true. And this is what the average girl gets. But, there are also girls who land 60-80% scholarships as well. There is Hope. You just have to play your cards right

Agree with these points. Not a lot of scholarship $ out there, which I think the OP was suggesting with the sarcasm.

That said, I wouldn't recommend that parents think about this stuff as a monetary investment with a specific ROI. Might lacrosse help with D1/D3 admissions for your daughter some day--certainly, and that's valuable in itself.

But the investment in their personal development, athletically and physically, emotionally, with resilience, leadership, and teamwork, that stuff is where the real return is. Plus, summer tournaments may be a grind, with the time on the road, the heat, the motels in random locations, the cost, etc.--but I treasure these long drives, and sing alongs, and conversations about life, and I know that no matter what happens with lacrosse, the parent-child bonds being strengthened and matured matter the most.

Agree completely with your thoughts on the time spent with our DDs. I would not trade these for anything. And for as much as I may have complained about long car rides to tournaments these were great times with my kids.

And lacrosse can definitely help with getting players into schools. The point I was honing in on was don’t over-invest in events like AS.

Appreciate the additional context you shared.
