| What the hell? This is such a cringe, strange take on the character from the books. I can not stand the character Jamie Lee Curtis plays. It's as if they took the worst old Southern tropes of dysfunctional families with the hysterical matriarch and amplified it. Yuck. It's so bad. So weird. |
| Glad to hear it. I was considering adding it to my queue, but I really don't need another show to watch. |
It's so odd. So unlike what I would expect from the books. There are some excellent actors in this so it's surprisingly off. |

I’ve read all the Scarpetta novels and came to dislike the MC more and more with each book. So pretentious, superficial, and massive ego.
A shame because the author was great at evoking moody settings. Does the MC in the series come across egotistical and annoying ? |
| Why did they cast Nicole Kidman? She is so overused and not a good fit for this character |
If you're referring to the Scarpetta character, no she isn't really egotistical. In the beginning Kidman is very quiet and whispery. It was bizarre and wrong for the character. In the first few episodes there was way too much Jamie Lee Curtis overacting and ruining the character of the sister. By the 4th and 5th episodes, it settles down and begins to be more interesting. I think it is more realistic re the politics of the position. She's having to deal with the men who resent her position. It started out horribly but is settling down and is an interesting who done it. |
| The actress who plays the young Scarpetta is much better than Kidman. |
She's the exec producer. So the "they" is NK. |
Marino's character is ridiculous as well. The well known actors are overacting everything except for Kidman. She is just whispering through most of the episodes. The Lucy character is overbearing as well. |
|
You have to watch just because how crazy this is. Get to episode 5 when stuff falls from space into a farmer's field.
This is going to be a classic series. So bad it's classic. |
| The Jamie Lee Curtis character is nearly impossible to watch. The actor I like best is the younger Kay Scarpetta. |
|
Episode 5
"No. Because he didn't even stay for the baked Alaska, and he loves meringue." Nichole Kidman must be desperate. |
|
forgot to mention, the quote above is from Jamie Lee Curtis while laying upside down in a chair talking to an ai character Lucy created who is now being spoken to by most of the characters as if it is a real person.
Also space debris and Russians. |
|
JLC's wig deserves an Oscar. |
|
Is NK the director because episode 5, which seems endless, has it all including close up camera shots during an argument between Scarpetta and her dh in a car that are so tight you can see every pore and nasal hair.
Why? |
