Jan 25th storm

Just for funsies, the snowfall below is NOT going to happen, but we can dream:

Translation: we might get a few snowflakes next weekend.

Don't you love these snow systems where it's impossible for even the professional forecasters and the AI models to have any idea what actually will happen, even a day or so out?

OP here. That does happen, yes, and it is highly annoying. But here we are 6 days out, so it's normal.

Another fun graphic that will never materialize, however, several major models have been remarkably consistent about next week's snowfall, so some accumulation might happen.

I’m getting excited for my kid.
I work next Sat and Sun so I’m not thrilled about the drive but will get to try out the “ snow” button on my newish Honda Pilot.

The afternoon American long-range model came in with a 2" snowfall next weekend, so the range is quite large.

At least MCPS is already closed on the 26th.

I don't understand. Why would you even WANT that scenario? Are you insane?

I was just reading over at MOCO show and one of the post had a meteorologist saying the models are all consistent in showing two mega blizzards before the end of this month totaling 3-5 feet of snow for our area!

Really looking forward to shoveling that. If that comes true, I'm going to need a defibrillator.

OP here. Sigh. You don't understand the mindset of a meteorologist, or amateur met. We live for extreme weather events, only tempered by the fear of death or injury to humans. On that note, we fear icing events way more than snow events. Ice kills more people.

Of course we won't have 30 inches of snow. But 3-8 inches might be within the realm of possibility with the data we have today. I would be thrilled to have a foot of snow.

Also: brace yourselves for 3 potential winter events from Jan 24 to Feb 1st. One of them may jackpot over our heads.

NP, I don't like snow but if we're going to get some then I want to go big. Snowed in for days or don't bother.
