| How was the women’s BIC event in FL this weekend? Worth the trip? |
| Lots of capital girl’s making the all star team. |
| cool capital brag |
| It’s just another pointless money grab |
| I was curious if college coaches (besides the ones working the camp) would be in attendance being that they’re welcoming their players back onto campus this week. |
There are no other college coaches in attendance and you don’t work with all the coaches on the list. Only the ones coaching your team |
|
BIC Winter Showcase was a strong event. Talent level was very high for the second year of the showcase, especially given open applications (non-invite event). The open event allows players to work with college coaches directly.
In addition to the coaches that coach the players' teams for the 6s and full-field game portions of the showcase, there are positional drills on the first day, allowing players to work with a variety of coaches. Will every coach on the list get a look? Maybe not. But through the positionals, game play, and certainly if your player makes the All-Star game, they can be seen by a majority of coaches there. Good vibe, sharp play, and a good group of coaches. A good BIC event in our view. I would rank strongly above XPO, and curious to hear views of others who went to Lacrosse Masters. |
The talent level at Lacrosse Masters was low. However, the event had coaches from several strong high-academic schools. For certain 2028s, this setting likely offered increased exposure and provided a valuable opportunity to stand out. The primary insight for Lacrosse Masters is to consider scheduling future events to avoid direct conflict with BIC, since BIC appears able to draw a stronger player pool when going head-to-head. |
| Keep feeding the money machine. |
Agreed. It was probably worth the effort for a few good 2028 players who were able to get a lot of attention. Other than that it was a bust, including for the Lacrosse Masters brand. |
I love this guy (or these people) who are always focused on "money", "money grab", etc. You realize you are talking to a lot of people who can afford it, right? You are either holding on the prior system of summer tournaments and club recruiting coordinators, and maybe one or two camps, being enough, or it's FOMO. Why begrudge lacrosse entrepreneurs in the first place? Deemer Class and Matt Dunn are great guys who genuinely care about the sport and the girls game, and, critically, the development of players. Brooke Magnuson at Top Tier, for another example, clearly does as well. Call it a money machine if you want, but check instagram, check inside lacrosse, etc. That stuff matters. Coaches see it. Build lists with ratings and rankings. And yeah, they ask people like Deemer or Brooke their view on prospects. Changing landscape my friend. Read and react. Let others do what they feel is best for their kid, or just keep being a curmudgeon. Either way, I hope your DD is successful with chasing her goals. |
I keep my money in my mattress where Best in class and lacrosse masters can’t reach it you rubes. |
A more succinct and perfect response to the money grab guy. |
Two girls isn’t a lot. But okay. |
