| I would have expected a much higher jump since no supplemental essays were required this year. And didn’t out of state applications decline slightly? |
Huh? As of early December they were on track for 90k apps (up from 64k). |
My guess is the jump will show in EA/RD applications much more than in ED. |
Yeah, UVA is a backup school for top oos students — private school tuition for a public is not their first choice. |
Yes. I’m sure they’ll get a ton of EA/RD apps. My kid applied EA, but given the mess and uncertainty there this year I would not have let them apply ED (and I say this as an alum who loved my time there). |
| They had to split the OOS ED pool with Michigan this year. I know a dozen OOS kids who were debating ED between the two. |
| No supplemental essays gives a substantial boost to applicant numbers - see Northeastern as an example. |
Wow. Where did that number come from? |
| My sophomore chose UVA over an Ivy and elite SLAC, too, and is very happy. He would have chosen a private if not for the money, though. |
| Oos, applied EA as back up, and kid got rejected. High stats, her essays weren't the best. |
Getting rejected from a back up doesn’t sound so promising. Good luck! |
| Rejected. Was surprised not deferred. |
Same for IS DD. |
