No one is RSVP-ing for my party

Anonymous
I’m having a holiday party Saturday, the 27th. I sent out thirty invitations last Monday, and asked invitees to RSVP via text by the 13th. So far I have received three responses. Is this normal?

I'm sorry, OP, that's a lousy feeling. And yes, increasingly normal.

For anyone who does this: shame on you.

Definitely send a reminder on the 12th.

What?? There is no reason to rsvp before the due date unless it was indicated that it would be preferable. I would rather wait and know for sure than answer incorrectly early.

I'm sorry to say that the days/nights right before and after Christmas and after Hanukkah are going to be busy for people. But I hope you get more RSVPs! And unfortunately people are taking longer to RSVP/forgetting altogether more than usual, I've noticed.

I had 30% of invited people not even respond. Naive me believed what people say about “Oh Evite ends up in spam all the time!” No. Nobody I know has ever said Evite goes to spam. They either ignore the Evite or they forgot about it and it got buried in other emails.

Anyway, I naively followed up with the no response people via private email. Still nothing. No RSVP, no response to my personal email, Evite shows they didn’t even view the invite.

Just… why? It takes two minutes to go in and click No.

By mail? I only open my mail about once a week.

Two weeks early for rsvp is kind of early particularly at this time of year when there are so many moving parts. At this point, I still don’t know when I am getting together with siblings to exchange gifts. I would wait until ast minute to rsvp unless I knew I was gojng to be out of town.

It's not a great night to have a party, honestly. Everyone will be holiday-ed out or still entertaining family or traveling. People are probably not planning on coming but haven't RSVPed No yet. I find people are quick to RSVP Yes and hold off on saying No, if they do at all.

Is this people with children, or older people? People with children are all going to be out of town by then.

You will get the bulk of your RSVPs a couple of days before the deadline.

That's a tough day to commit to.

Do you really know multiple families who will just be home without plans over winter vacation?

That is a terrible day for a holiday party.
