perioral wrinkles (mouth lines) but also these weird ugly fat bulges along my mouth that pop out when I smile.
I’m embarrassed to admit I’ve already done some cosmetic stuff in my 40s but at 55, it is long long gone. My teeth are a bit yellow, my hair is thin, and although I’m thin, my skin is crepey. I’m on HRT. I want to age ‘gracefully’ but this is depressing. Anyone have advice? |
| Dress really well, pamper your skin, and get a flattering haircut. If you look polished and pulled together you're winning half of the battle. |

Oh honey. I’m sure you look great. You’ve just got to accept that you’re not 22 anymore. You can buy products to touch up your roots at home and get some teeth whitening fairly easily.
On the hair thinning, hard to tell without seeing you but people change their hairstyles as they age so maybe it’s time for a change… |
| I'm sorry, OP. I'm sure there are things about your physical person that make people discount what you describe. Do you have bright eyes, a clear complexion, a ready smile, do you stand up straight? Work with what you have. |
| Intermittent fasting will tighten up skin and decrease inflammation. Try it. |
How’s that? I don’t need to lose weight. I’ve always had a fatty face but everyone told me I’d love it when I aged because fat is more youthful. Well. Maybe if it’s elevated, but fat sags. And in my case it also creates these weird bulges by my mouth. |
None of those things! |

At home facial laser.
I’m serious. |
| I started manual lymph drainage massage. It was part of it but now I do it daily on my own. Look it up, and if you can get a prescription for pt, do try it. It helps to get someone who is trained to do it first, so you know how it's supposed to feel. It really helped the puffiness on my face. I have no idea that part of the issue was lymphatic. After the massage, I usually do a face roller with some vitamin e oil, but it's the massage that actually makes the most difference. |
| Get your teeth whitened- I’m totally serious. You look so much younger and fresher with white teeth. It’s taken years off every time I’ve done it. |
| Get a facelift and professional teeth whitening |
| Fillers, laser, tooth whitening and facials. At this point you have to work hard to look good. Can’t coast |
Fillers look awful! |

I think what makes a lot of women look horrible as they age is bad dye jobs. The same color or type of color cannot be sustained as you age so you need to adjust with a very good colorist. This can be a big time and money commitment.
I personally could not do it. I have silver hair and get regular compliments. I’m lucky because I look better with my silver hair based on my complexion and that I still look somewhat younger than my actual age. That’s not the case for everyone. |
No one looks younger with gray hair |
