No, he does it to bully dogs into not sharing the space and run.

They should not be feeding someone’s dog either but for safety is different. This dog was not a threat especially if he wanted to feed the dog.

Someone else might have just punched him in the face. Countless others no doubt walked or ran away in the past. I’m not sure what anyone had gained through this story though. Then his sister using the term “Karen” which is just divisive - intentionally so.

NP- It doesn’t necessarily, but if you don’t recognize at least the possibility that : if Mr Cooper had been a middle aged charmingly nerdy white birder who asked Ms Cooper to leash her dog, her response would probably have been extremely different, you’re dismissing the reality of the racism that many of us have to negotiate every time we step outdoors.

How do I sleep at night? Lately just awful. The world is on fire and we have a garbage president and it’s harder and harder to find decent people. Am I someone who struggles with reconciling racist wiring? Yes. All white people are to some extent. Do I also strive to be anti racist? Yes, I do that too. I do not in any way believe his behavior justified her. But let me ask you to examine your heart of hearts. If you heard this story and the roles were reversed and it was a large white guy and a small black woman in the same roles, and white guy tells her to leash her dog or she won’t like what he does and calls the dog over to him, that you would think the black girl had every right to feel intimidated?

A Cooper showed her stripes. She’s paying for it. I don’t like mob mentality but the behavior was indefensible and she’s hardly a sympathetic character. Also C Cooper has every right to scold her, and bait her I guess and even video her. He explicitly says on his own twitter and then in an interview that he carries the dog treats to frighten people into leashing their dogs. He says you won’t like what I’ll do and tried calling the dog over. How the heck does anyone not see that as creepy AF? Like dude is threatening some vague harm will come to Fido.

I hate racism more than I hate obnoxious behavior and men who belittle and intimidate women but both things were on display here. Again I’m not defending her actions even slightly. But all this celebration of this guys bad behavior and boasting about it baffles me.

I just looked at the video again. The dog is uncomfortable at times but fine. She finally gets the leash on in the last second when the video is skillfully edited.

The video is 96 secs long. The dog is slightly choking for about 3-4 seconds. Amy is bent over to protect the dogs neck for most of the time. GEEZ you people will say anything to promote your story.

I find it interesting that this thread is 87 pages long and is being dominated by people who are offended that a white woman got in trouble for a taped interaction with a black man during which she called the cops on the black man, but there are only 51 pages on the "I can't breathe" thread about George Floyd, a black man who was actually killed by a cop.

The Amy Cooper incident has really triggered the non-liberals on this thread. It truly is fascinating. The whole taped interaction has been dissected to death on this thread with the right-wingers heavily invested in denying that Amy was using any white privilege and stating or implying that the black birdwatcher was the problem.

Where is the rest of the video? Where is him asking her to put the dog on the leash and where is the after that when the two of them left or the police came? Look at who is sister is who posted the video. She works for the CW and is posting controversial stuff and racist comments against whites and others regularly. This was probably deliberate especially given he carries the treats regularly and clearly had a plan.
