Biden's VP?

Anonymous
Dear Gd people! VP pick is more important than Biden himself. The VP must seamlessly encompass the positives of Biden and repel the negatives of Trump.

1. Respect from both parties
2. Fearless and stellar bi partisan negotiator
3. Experience and solid foundation on foreign affairs / relationships
4. Moderate platform
5. Pandemic damage control and preparedness
6. Re-focus on the issues that plagued our country pre Trump/pandemic
6. Enough breath left in their body to carry on as president

Skin color and gender are irrelevant without the above. If it's a Latino, AA, Asian, woman, LGBT, who cares! Look deeper!

What you don't get is that there is NO politician in the country who can get respect from both parties. We are too polarized. The best we can do is get someone acceptable to both progressives and independents. And even that is a challenge as anyone either slightly too progressive or slightly too moderate will turn a bunch of people off.

So you think Republicans who have reached their limit with Trump will sit it out? Here's how it went with a friend, lifelong Republican, who I spoke with this morning. She was ranting about not voting, I let her rant until she asked my opinion, but not before telling me that she "knew" I was socialist leaning.

I gave her my opinion, but not before telling her that for someone who has known me for so long, she clearly missed the mark. I'm in no way a socialist supporter. I'm very much a moderate. She then said, "well, you know you're always helping everyone and feeding the hungry." Haha. I explained that I support a plan for stricter borders through current legal means. I asked her what she suggests we do with the families that are already here? Should we allow them to starve and suffer? It went on like this for a while.

She calmed down a bit. And oddly, her rant was soley based on, "Biden's too old" blah blah. And, "I hate Trump". blah blah. I asked her what she thought of Klobuchar. "Love her. Wish she was running." Well what if she's his VP pick? "Ah I dunno." I consider this progress 🤦‍♀️

Nice anecdote. Now, send her what you wrote above and encourage her to come here and tell HER side of the conversation.
I am betting it would be totally different.

I will! But then she'll rant about what is Dcum and bla blah blah. But I will text her our exchange. If she adds anything more, I'll post it. She said more but I don't think you'd want to hear about, "I liked that gay guy. But no way would people vote for a gay guy." I asked if she knew anything else about him. Look, she's a dear friend. She is smart. She admittedly doesn't follow politics much. She's a Republican because her daddy was. She's rough around the edges and has no filter, but I love her and accept it.

Klobuchar sounds good only because she isn't running. If she were the pick, a flood of negative information would come out about her, and your friend won't like her anymore.

I think Republicans who have had enough of Trump will hold their nose and vote for Biden. I don't think there are a lot of Republicans like that, but we don't need many.

Hahah so you just said, slightly too progressive or slightly too moderate will turn off party loyalty Republicans and forever Trumpers. That's not the intended audience of this thread or my post.

Well, that's not what I said.

I thought the intended audience of this thread was people who post on DCUM, but I guess I was mistaken. Carry on with your other friends, whoever they are.

Centrist, former police chief of Orlando and a social worker, two term congress woman, only 63, carries a 9 MM, rides a Harley, regular churchgoer and is from Florida (swing state). She was brought up in a 2 room house with 7 siblings. Her husband is former FBI and a cop, they have 3 grown sons and several grandchildren. ...Someone people can relate to.

I like her well enough but not enough national experience and not very charismatic.

I can’t watch right now, but I can believe it. She’s green, she declined to run for Senate, she gave Biden that horrendous smackdown when they floated the idea of her being his VP.... I like her and hope she goes on to do more. But I’m glad she’s not getting this.

+1 and she’s been obnoxious about hyping herself for this. Really don’t get why she declined to run for the Senate, was perfect timing for her.
