I worked with people in the office who used to regularly take 60-90 minutes to go to the gym or go for a run during “lunch.” This isn’t a telework issue.

I would also occasionally run an errand or, you know, go out to lunch during lunch, or go for a walk on a nice day when I worked in the office. Being chained to your computer is not a TW requirement.

+1 When I worked in the office, I went out for lunch several days a week. On days that I didn't go out to lunch, I would run errands at lunch time. I was routinely gone for 1.5 hours.

And what do you think that means? Do you know their exact work hours/restrictions/total time clocked on the day you saw them playing? IF you see a time card that says they were working when they were not working, then you can talk.

+1. Even if they were out there at 10 am, PP has no idea what are core hours, what hours they flexed etc. Maybe they were getting in hours in the middle of the night ffs. I've certainly done that when I can’t sleep. And really, it's no different than having a dr appt and flexing hours around that instead of taking leave.

Omfg people., please just stop arguing with the fascists who want to make you miserable. Everybmodern workplace offers some flexibility to workers…especially office workers! This is not novel, or shameful. These people are ridiculous. Do not share any more information with them, they’re just trolling for details so they can screw with you more.

The general public doesn't view people surfing or playing pickleball during working hours favorably.

Complain all you want but everyone with half a brain and no vested interest in telework knows that it isn't acceptable behavior.

So, unemployed losers? Is that what this about—appealing to them?

No evidence that this is a widespread phenomenon, or even something that actually happened. Try again.

They’re not surfing during “working hours” if they’re getting their full work week in when they’re not surfing. And everyone with half a brain is just jealous that the surfer’s employer is so great.

Which is it?

Half the posters here talk about how they or their SO go and run errands everyday during telework and the other half claims it doesn't happen and everyone is working during core hours.

Maybe it’s all of the above and all of it is fine.

PS. Your constant appeals to a what the “public” must think are a dead giveaway. You haunt these threads all day long with the same low effort concern trolling.

No one cares. This is not a campaign forum. No one is obligated to stop discussing the very real challenges they’re facing from Trump’s arbitrary, vindictive policies.

Consider whether there’s not a single other thing you could do with your life besides being obnoxious on the internet.

No, they're definitely surfing during work hours. Do you think taxpayers are good with people going and doing leisure activities when they should be working?

I can't wait to see everyone back in the office and enjoying their desks. Like everything else, the few ruin it for the many.

Mostly DOD feds I know are the ones exercising during the day.

Yes - they have the ability to do this and it's approved 100%. They have to do it during the day. A lot agencies don't allow employees to stop working early to get their workout in.

It would be best to just evaluate work output versus demanding big brother to know what we are doing and where we are at any time. Show me statistics on poor productivity and it being different for the federal versus private sector.

Obviously people are doing it and idgaf if they worked 60 hours, if you’re a public servant you don’t go surfing at 10am on a Tuesday. If you want to do that go find a private employer who is ok with it. These firings can’t happen quicker.

I want to move to Hawaii and surf in the middle of the day. Sounds fine to me. Good for them. Considering that it’s past the end of my day when they’re out surfing, and that they probably start super early to work with counterparts in my time zone, it’s nbd. Why can’t people have jobs and lives that they enjoy?
