It was an unwarranted finding.

It held up on 2 appeals. He needs to be fired

They canned him. Thread title remains accurate. Not sure if he was fired from his school position as well.

Do we just keep the same Subject to this thread when Overton is fired?

That FCPS backing him on all appeals, he will get promoted before fired. He also will just likely resign and go somewhere outside VA. From his interviews, he wants to coach college level and no state championship and scandal won’t help. He’ll leave while he can still say he was cleared by FCPS and rest is other people problems.

He wasn't qualified for the job they gave him
At Hayfield. No way are they promoting this clown. He will quit.

So will Hayfield’s team next season (fall of 2025) have any of these same players/coaches? Or do you think everyone associated this year will quit and it will be an almost completely new team next fall (similar to Freedom this year?)

Why would strong players stick around when there is already a ban on post-season play in 2025 as well?

Total fiasco.

If the coaches are still there then the players will likely still be there. Huge if of course.

That entire program is damaged goods. They should have stuck with Aziz.

What happened to Aziz? Did he retire?

I feel bad for all the student athletes on the team, and also the band, dance, etc., kids that lost their senior night. So unfortunate.

With final appeal, tonight is Hayfield’s last game for season then, against Lewis. Saw some posting elsewhere that Lewis should forfeit to protect their players. VHSL should have made last game a forfeit on Hayfield side. Would have stunk for Lewis HS, but really don’t think they should play tonight. Don’t see any good coming from it other than halftime show to honor Lewis kids- Lewis kids do deserve that.

So hes not coaching tonight i take it!

He wasn’t banned from coaching so only if fcps told him to not go.

Anyone have principal’s twitter? I would be curious what he has been posting.

Too bad it's Lewis and not a larger more vocal school. I'd love to hear the cheater chants form a large student body

just want to say well done by vhsl - investigated, gathered facts, did analysis etc. But once gathered, they then acted decisively and acted on appeals quickly. Good lesson to kids everywhere that rules are to be respected and level playing field still valued. and our federal court system could learn from this example…

The story when happened was pushed out that didn’t mesh with AD and principal wanted Overton. Stories were circulating he was “blindsided.”
