Vice President Harris edged out her rival, former President Trump, by 2 points in a national poll released Thursday.

The new NPR/PBS News/Marist survey found Harris outpacing the former president 50 percent to 48 percent among likely voters nationally, a lead within the poll’s margin of error. The Democratic nominee had a 3-point lead, 50 percent to 47 percent, among registered voters.

Why are we reposting the guy whose polling firm was shown to be colluding with the Trump campaign?

I’m one data point. I am having major surgery in 10 days and am doing mail in voting, in case I’m not up and about on Election Day. My ballot came. It sat on my dresser for a week. I filled it out. It sat another week before put it in the mailbox (we’ve been having nighttime car and mailbox thefts and I want to put it out in the am, but kept forgetting). Anyway. I felt no particular hurry to mail it in. We are 30 days out from the election. I want to track it and have it accepted before surgery, in case it needs to be cured or there is an issue. But that’s the only deadline.

Now let’s look at 2020. We were on COVID lockdown (no vaccines yet). Trump was putting cronies on the Board of the USPS. DeJoy was saying he couldn’t guarantee mail in ballots would arrive on time. Etc, etc. and I wanted to do something— anything— to get Trump out. I still did mail in voting because I was high COVId risk. But, I filled in my ballot the day it arrived and stalked it online everyday until it was accepted. Then went back a couple times nd checked just to be sure.

2020 was a different election. NOVA had a lot of pent up “do something to make him go away”, plus people were stuck at home and weren’t as busy, plus people didn’t trust the post office, plus more high propensity voters, like older people, voted by mail because they were high risk.

You can’t begin to compare 2020 to 2024. Way too many variables have changed. And in 2016, VA didn’t have no excuse absentee voting. So that isn’t comparable either.

Low IQ voter ^ Please don’t vote.

Polling companies don’t collude with candidates, they do work with campaigns to provide insight on how they’re doing. It’s paid work and if they’re wrong, they don’t get hired back. I have no idea if Rasmussen worked for Trump’s campaign in the past but if he did, it’s not collusion moron.

They were sharing the results this year with the Trump campaign.

I mail in voted in VA in 2020 and just mailed by 2024 ballot in (before 2020, VA did not have no excuse early or absentee voting). You cannot compare 2020 and 2024. There are lots of reasons, and I listed them on another thread, but the pent up eagerness by Dems in 2020 to do something and vote against Trump immediately, as soon as humanly possible, long lines for early voting in person at the Government Center, concerns about Election Day disruptions by the “stand back and stand by” crowd, blue counties being more COVID cautious than red counties (remember the 2020 election was pre-vaccine) and less likely to vote in person, no excuse mail in voting being new in Va and more educated voters knowing it existed at all, new and people getting ballots in ASAP because they didn’t trust DeJoy, etc. etc meant blue counties were more likely to vote by mail and vote early, so they could cure ballots— or get a new one— if there were post office problems. I know that watching my ballot make its way through the system and then be accepted on the VA voting website calmed a lot of my fears about mail in voting being buried in the post office, and needing time to do something if it was. You can’t compare COVID with Trump in charge and 2024. Now, you might be able to get a beat off of 2016– if VA had allowed no excuse early voting. But they didn’t.

Now, Trump may out perform what he did in Va in 2020. Or not. But pretending 2024 is anything like 2020 is really deluding yourself. And is a bit like me hoping Harris takes Ohio. It’s not going to happen. Youngkin was an anomaly. Youngkin was more, payable than Trump, people hated McAwful to begin with, and he absolutely lost the election the moment he said suburban mommies needed to calm down about closed schools and the impact on kids. I’ll forgive a lot. Don’t f—k around with my kids. Harris v Trump is not Youngkin v McAwful. And McKaines Senate race isn’t remotely competitive. Trump has a path to 270. It absolutely does not go through VA though.

That’s *literally* the point. Kamala hires pollsters too. You know nothing about politics.

these polls are so freaking triggering! I need to stop visiting this tread. What y'all post make it seen like there is absolutely no hope of going forward in this country.
