2028 Girls Lacrosse

Sounds like the Stars girls are going to have some stiff competition at next years tryouts. No longer the rubber stamp it used to be.

Oh, Stars girls will be rubber stamped. Don't worry about that...

Parents were cool and got along--even, or especially, Stars and Pride. YJ folks were great as well.

Tournament was well-run even if parking is a rip-off. Rehoboth was chill for time in between, especially given the late games.

Other than the heat, not a bad time.

So the pessimists who will inevitably respond with some troll nonsense, can vibe-check themselves.

Positive signs for the future meaning CLC Blue will be a good team?

I think many of the players this weekend will have a good chance to make blue. It will take some time, but once they click together, they will be very strong. Plus, I know there will Be a few more players who will want to come to Capital that are strong players as well

So, yes, they will be a good team

Agree with this. That's what I was suggesting in the OP.

What would make this Cap Blue team great would be if they can poach some of the local MD teams (Heros) talent.

Why does everyone think we need to poach from Hero’s, M and D, or Skywalkers? Every Capital team does just fine without taking girls from any of those teams.

Capital will be fine without any of those girls, and my kid won’t have to travel nearly as far

“Everyone” thinks we beed to poach from Heros, Skywalkers and M&D? I am the previous poster and I only mentioned Heros because there are some really good players who live in the area that may want to give Capital a look. I am going to work hard to make sure that they do. B/c I want the best Cap Blue team as everyone should.

How many local players play on MD teams?

If they are already on Hero’s green, there is Zero incentive for them to go to Capital. Don’t get me wrong, Capital is great, but so is Hero’s. That wouldn’t be a smart move

There hasn’t Been a rubber stamp for years. So, not sure what you are talking about. Yes, Stars will put some players on the Blue team, but since Bethesda stopped sending their girls to Stats in middle school, that stamp went away

A little too early to be calling the Blue team, but those who have been around these clubs long enough know making the team doesn’t happen during a several hour tryout with Capital. The actual tryout may identify several players, but the team will be selected well in advance. Players need talent but don’t underestimate the politics, so talent alone won’t guarantee your DD a spot. It’s exhausting but this class needs to be working the politics as much as hitting the wall. One thing is certain when it comes to selecting the final Blue team, there will be some head scratching.

I’m a stars parent with a daughter who has been through this already. This is 100% fact. This was a great post.

The coaches go to many of the tournaments to watch all of the local girls for sure. I have a strong prediction that Pride will have the most this year.

Very true. If Cap Blue could nab the very strong four Moco girls playing for Hero’s that would be huge. Their parents will tire of the commute eventually, right? One can hope.

Had been 4 Moco girls on hero’s. Now there will be 5. New pickup from NL.

This will not sit well with the local Mama Bears. Don’t underestimate the politics and the purse string.

I would argue that having the best possible team would "sit well" with the parents of players who make it. That should be, and probably is, Capital's goal.

Apparently you have not driven to Howard County multiple times a week in rush hour traffic. I’d say the incentive is pretty obvious.

Apparently you haven’t driven across the American Legion bridge during rush hour either 🤣🤣🤣

It’s not going to sit well with any parent whose kid is cut or relegated to Orange.

One would think, but there are head-scratching selections every year. It would be an incorrect assumption to say all the best players join Capital. Four area players in this year’s graduating class were recognized as PoY in their respective conferences. None played for Capital, but certainly had Capital Blue players on their high school teams. Capital’s intent could be fielding the best team, but like it or not politics will and has been a factor when selecting teams.
