| Are there real time alerts you can sign up for? These seem like epic wastes of time. |
| Really, are those a regular thing? Yes, I would like to know when and where they tend to happen. |
| I haven’t seen any. |
| Wouldn’t Waze have that info? |
| Reddit, Washingtondc subreddit. Yes they are all over the browner and blacker parts of ththe city. |
So awful. |

ICEBlock app
You need to enable real time location tracking and notifications. But it will pop up and tell you when you’re close to an bridgade of LEOs/ICE |
the only problem is that most people aren't constantly checking reddit for checkpoint reports |
+1 |
| It would be kinda hilarious if they set up a checkpoint on North Capitol and everyone was able to just drive around it. |
Pedestrians were apparently on the corners before the checkpoint, warning drivers with signs and shouting. |
| What if they set up a checkpoint and no one came? |
| What are they checking? Does everyone have to show if? |
Yes everyone(not just the driver) has to show ID and proof of citizenship. A real ID is not proof of citizenship. You also have to give a reason why you are traveling- where you are going, who you are meeting, where you are coming from, address of employer, etc. They can impounded your car and take your phone if ICE or Customs and Border Protection (CBP). |
Yes, I'd use Waze. FYI, a friend of mine got caught in one taking her kids into DC for the day while on I-295. Getting enough of a heads up to avoid a checkpoint on a highway would be tough. She got motioned to pull over and then when one of the agents walked over to her - white mom with kids in car seats across the back seat - they waved her on without even asking for an ID. Racial profiling at its finest. |
