The United States is so unhappy now, it’s not the same anymore

I spent time travelling this summer around the good old US of A. And man, was it depressing. Everyone in their own world, jobless or working too many jobs because one job doesn’t pay great. People cutting way back. A general apathy and hopelessness for the future. People now talking about AI taking jobs which is interesting because the blame used to be immigrants. The feeling that God has failed them and that we are still heading in the wrong direction. It will never be the same I guess. The reality of everything is in front of us. The blinders are off. And when I spoke with people it seemed that most people were just giving up. Anyone else traveling around and seeing or hearing any of this?

Trump and MAGAS are a galactic depressant. There is no light at the end of the tunnel for this travesty to end.

I agree. I miss the pre-Trump days when we were one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Sigh. Having a demented, hateful, racist con artist in charge of your well-being and your future can do that. No, it’s not the same. But many of our fellow citizens apparently wanted it this way.

The game in the U.S. is to stir hate and discontent to the point where nothing gets done.

I can only give one piece of advice. Go to other countries, walk around and observe. Don't go with a tour group. Get out and see the people, take in their news and views.

I hope you realize the problem is not people and their pay. It's the systematic devaluation of the dollar.

Things are not becoming more expensive. Your dollars are becoming worth less and less.

Yes, you have to be very careful in the US. Say one wrong thing and a highly emotional MAGA gun nut might grab their AR-15.

It's all relative. I'm depressed but in my bubble I don't see that. I'm at a popular upper class type of resort on holiday currently in a pretty Dem state and everyone is happy here and it's not a cheap place. I think with so many people in the US, you'll always get bubbles of really happy and really sad folks anywhere. One thing for sure us how horrible Trump has been to the reputation of the country in the eyes of the world whether you support him or not!

Yeah, things were much better under Biden with massive inflation - people feeling like they can’t afford a house or health care or food. And don’t forget the open border with 11 million people pouring in illegally to join our welfare rolls.

Given the two choices we had in the November election, it’s great Trump win, otherwise we would have four more years of Biden’s awful policies.

We currently have the worst inflation in 3 years.

I say this with kindness. I think youre hanging around some bad influences. The world is not this bleak.

Trump supporters have just seemed to literally lose their minds and don't care if they drive the US into the ground. Seems like they are determined to turn us into a third world country with a non working democracy.

It is so sad, so preventable, but here we are .

Biden was not pre-Trump. Trump smeared us all. He was in office BEFORE Biden. We didn't have enough time to fully heal.
