I was walking my dog yesterday on GA ave, and about 10 four wheelers were racing down the street, doing tricks, u turns etc. this was around 7:00 pm I think. I saw a cop parked right in front of the senior center (3300 block). I asked him if they were allowed to do that and he said “yall voted for this” and just shook his head.
I have lived in DC for over 25 years and it’s disheartening to see how it rebounded so much under Mayor Williams and now to see it backsliding.
Cop was wrong though, too many folks have voted in the same clueless leftists over and over on council. Although I didn’t vote for Nadeau.
We need to take a harder stance on quality of life issues. One of these days those four wheelers wrecked kill someone in a crosswalk.
It’s bad enough the cops barely seem to arrest the violent criminals, maybe they should go after the lower hanging fruit.

Oh, I belive this totally happened because an Alexandria cop said something very similar that "residents keep voting for this" to us a few years ago after a bunch of break ins.

I don't understand the officer's statement (assuming he said it). Isn't it illegal to ride ATVs in the streets? So was he told not to arrest people doing it?

Yes, they are told not to arrest because it disproportionally criminalizes Black and brown behavior.

So you want them to chase these people down? The reason they do not do that is because of the dangers of all to civilians. Oh and by the way Maryland and Virginia have the same thing going on.

I thought it was because the process of arresting the riders would involve multiple police vehicles chasing the ATVs in residential neighborhoods— thereby putting the residents and other pedestrians in even greater risk.
