Israel war today vs 1900s-1948

This is a genuine question for folks who support Israel's right to exist, but oppose what the current Netanyahu government is doing to Palestinians. In your view, what is the difference between what is happening today and what happened in the early 1900s leading up to 1948? For example, why is it offensive that Trump wants to build a resort in Gaza after it is leveled, when most of Israel was built by Europeans over the homes of Palestinians? I know this is very controversial to ask and might descend into mud-slinging, but if anyone could just make a good faith attempt at explaining their viewpoint I would really appreciate it. As for the forced removal in 1948, the Palestinians and Israelis were not technically in a war in 1948. Those were other Arab nations that invaded Israel. Palestinians did not even bear arms to be an army back then. They never had a sovereign country so therefore they did not have a military, army, navy or Air Force like their Arab neighbors.

Israel was ahead of the curve because since the 1920s they were building their military secretly with the Irgun and Stern defense form and other gangs that eventually all became the IDF.

Palestinians took a very very long time and a learning curve to get there but one would say steel sharpens steel and Hamas finally got the one up over the PLO and arguably now Israel itself

Ben Gurion was the first Prime Minister of Israel. Wikipedia says his nationality was Israeli, Ottoman, and Palestinian. But he was definitely born in Poland.

I 100 percent support Israel's right to exist. And I think the decision of Hamas and their supporters to invade Israel and commit all those atrocities on a Saturday morning in October was a breathtakingly stupid thing to do.

But I also think Netanyahu, Likud, and the settlers are horrible human beings. And the invasion by Hamas was a gift to them.

Like most people in the world, I think Palestinians and Israelis are both terrible. They deserve each other. For the rest of the world, the important thing is to contain it. If Palestinians and Israelis want to be idiots, fine. But their idiocy and cruelty needs to stay within their borders and not spread. I think that's the biggest priority. Until Palestinians and Israelis choose different leaders, it's hopeless.

Nations don’t possess rights. No nation (including Israel, the U.S., China, Russia, Iran, Spain, Brazil, Australia, and so on) has a “right to exist”.

Agree with pp. Why does any country have a "right" to exist? I respect the rights of all people to be safe and free, but countries, and certainly ethno nation states, don't deserve "rights" more than people.
