NCAP Tysons

Is NCAP Tysons in financial trouble? Word is they may be combining with another site to save the program?

Aren’t some of their groups already combined with NCAP Marymount?

Yes. When John went to MU, Tyson lost its pipeline for the next level of swimmers. This gives both groups more training options and enables them to better align the various groups. It’s a positive move for both sites.

Eh. It sounds like Marymount is the better site so maybe this is good for the Tysons kids but not sure how it helps the Marymount kids stuck going to Tysons.

They’re combining one group for next year (Gold AM will be merging with Gold 1 at MU). But they’re also bringing the Gold 2 group to Tysons, which it does not currently have. Gold Prep and the Silver and Bronze groups will remain unchanged next year. The two locations will be under one head site coach.

Groups at Tysons are pretty full (I’d say my DCs group is over capacity) so I’m not sure there’s a financial issue. More like an issue of opportunity, especially since they Tysons head site coach is moving to GP.

Is Jeremy going to GP because Bruce Gemmell is retiring, or is he going there as head coach in waiting?

Tyson’s gold group has some fast swimmers. Combining the two groups will benefit both gold groups as it makes a stronger training cohort for everyone.

But I’d assume most families picked a location for a reason. How many are going to be happy or willing to do a longer commute? Why move the Gold 2 group from Marymount to Tysons if Tysons is full? Doesn’t make sense. I can’t imagine families are happy about this.

That’s got to be a head coach in waiting deal then. Otherwise why would you leave being a head site coach and coach of Gold 1 to coach Gold 2.

So where will the merged gold 1/gold am group practice? At MU or Tysons? And who will coach it?
