Gold Prep has a pretty wide range of abilities, from MS kids who have aged out of Silver through HS kids with Jr/Sr champs cuts who were offered placement in the former Gold I/new Gold II group but who didn't want to deal with that practice schedule (at least, that was the case last year...the new head site coach may have a different opinion on letting swimmers make that choice). As a pp said, a main difference from the other groups is that it's only a 9 month program. The group does not do the full LC season, but does usually attend two LC meets in April/May for those who are interested. In the past there were no practice or meet attendance requirements. My understanding is that this will change for the upcoming season, although since my DC has graduated, I don't know more than that. I do know of a couple of kids who are not returning because of it, however. |
| Looks like they are re-branding the sites as NCAP NoVa. |
Which is so weird since we also have: NCAP-Burke, NCAP-Alexandria, NCAP-West, NCAP-Dulles South, and NCAP-Claude Moore (those may become NCAP-Loudoun, but that may rub VSI the wrong way), all of which are in…NoVa. Nevermind that I thought NCAP and NOVA of VA were merging when I saw that post! Not a good name for NCAP. |
Of those other groups, only Alexandria is close-in northern Va. The name is fine. |
|
Burke is the original and close enough to call nova with a straight face.
NOVA is Richmond or Irvine. This is a bad rebrand. |
Loudoun is more northern than Alexandria, and Burke is absolutely northern Virginia. Notwithstanding, NOVA of Virginia is NOVA. NCAP needs to pick something else. (NCAP parent) |

“Loudoun is more northern than Alexandria”
I don’t think you understand what “Northern Virginia” means. |
