I noticed I have two thoughts that are hard to push away:

hunger pangs = stomach hurts/stomach problems

"What if it's not enough and I'm still hungry?"

It's really hard for me to get past those two.

Are you the OP? For your second issue, it helps to measure portions in another room and put the food away. Set a timer for 15-30 minutes and tell yourself you can get another serving then if you are still hungry. Most of the time you won't need it.

I wrote that weirdly. I mean dish out a serving of your food in the kitchen and put the package or rest of the food away and go eat in the dining room.

You can cut food in half or skip the cake at a party but give yourself permission to go buy a cupcake if you're hungry later. (I've never bought the cupcake. You usually just have to calm your brain from wanting more and once you actually eat the smaller portion or healthier snack, you most likely will actually be fine and not need more.)

Don’t think about 50 lbs. Think about 5 or 10 lbs. Then go from there.

You have a metabolic disorder. Obesity/overweight is, for most people, a metabolic disorder.

Drink water or eat some small pieces of celery with PB when you feel the urge to snack.

One of the main causes of obesity is thinking a rumbling stomach means you need to eat. "Hunger pains" are mental, unless you are going days on end without eating, they are not real hunger pains.

You don’t feel hungry most of the time when taking GLP-1s

For most people it also reduces or eliminates the urge to eat junk. I think most people can lose 10-20 pounds on their own but 50 is going to be difficult to maintain. Your body will fight so hard to get back to that set point (btdt multiple time)

You cannot outrun the fork. Concentrate on your diet. Lean into diet medication and or a nutritionist. It's not a moral failing. But realize it's a lifelong mental change and not a quick fix. After that incorporate movement everyday that you love.

I no longer snack. I eat two meals protein rich meals a day and eat a small rich piece of chocolate. If you like that. I eat healthy 90% of the time. You have to decide that YOU want to do it for you. Good luck.

This is good advice. I also do the "eh, it's only 30 minutes until (other thing I need to do) so I can wait until then."

I have a simar issue (need to eat because what if I can't later?) and meal planning really helps me. Write the plan for the week and the day - build in a bit more food than you need. Snacks and treats are fine in moderation and you can build in healthier ones. Pack a big lunch if you are outsude the house. Cross items off the list as you eat them and you'll see there is still so much left.

FYI, I have lost 40 lbs "normally" and, much later, the same 40 lbs with Wegovy. The meds really do help with the obsessive thoughts about food.

Me too! Then my doctor mentioned Wegovy for my cholesterol. I’m trying it. It gave me the kick start to get over the mental block
