UVA Emergency Alert: Police are looking for a suspect in the Alderman area. All students, faculty, and staff should shelter in place if on Grounds. The suspect is a 6’4 Black Male wearing a gray hoodie. Please avoid the suspect. If seen, please call 911.

I'm confused bc the home page says it's been lifted but the alert on X says to continue to shelter in place.

"UPDATE: Police are looking for a suspect, Nyheem Hill, last seen in the area of Alderman Road, who fled following an off-Grounds traffic stop near Ivy Road and has a known criminal history and gang affiliation. The suspect has no known affiliation with the University. All UVA community members should continue to shelter in place until further notice."

The "lifted" message is dated 2022

Classes are suspended/cancelled and shelter in place is still in effect.

Classes cancelled. My DD is still sheltering in place. Helicopters and sirens going off. Suspect still at large.

What is being communicated: suspect fled on foot following a traffic stop on Ivy Road and has no UVA affiliation. Suspect last seen off Grounds. No shots fired, no injuries.

Ugh. I saw the "all clear" post that sounds like it was out-of-date. DC is sheltering in place in lecture hall.

Their Emergency Management homepage said “shooting reported on Culbreth Road.” Up until just a few seconds ago. I think it was an old alert, but uh, bad move there, webmaster.

Started as a traffic violation and suspect fled. What don’t you understand?? Give it a rest.
