Mom of Odessa Student injured speaks out

Based on the facts available to the public, there is no way to know a) the girl’s state of mind, b) whether the victim did anything that could be considered bullying, or c) the precise nature of the victim’s injuries/chances of a full recovery. It was a very bad thing that happened. The people with access to the facts of what happened should address it appropriately. We’re not going to get the full story and we’re not going to be able to judge whether the response was appropriate because we don’t have the right to know anything about other people’s kids. Direct your energies towards things you can control, like donating to the victim’s medical care or volunteering at your school.

If this girl is back in school, I'd remove my kids as she is violent and could have killed him.

What is the evidence that the girl was "bullied relentlessly"? Or that "she grabbed the first thing she saw" ...which btw just happened to be a very sharp metal object that she then impaled into the kid's skull.

The girl may not be a "criminal mind" but she committed horrific violence that was not accidental. I would not want my kid anywhere near a classroom with a MS student who literally bashed another MS student's brain.

Just bc his mom won’t post his behavior on social media doesn’t make it true. My kid was a witness (who was involved with the police) the kid isn’t innocent. That’s the part she won’t post.

She said he threw a ball at her. He has ASD and could be greatly impacted by it. Thanks to this girl, he is now missing part of his brain. There is no excuse for her using a weapon and this was more than throwing it.

I'd remove my kid from that school.

ASD is not an excuse for repeatedly harassing someone. While impacted, he was not in a restrictive setting so he was deemed capable of appropriate basic interactions with peers. I would be horrified to learn that my child with ASD was bullying someone.

It sounds like both kids had issues, but he probably needed a 1-1 para. The SCHOOL is at fault for not handling the situation. How can you justify a child being hit with a metal object, causing major issues?

No one is "justifying" the metal object.

No and it was not a "weapon".

Oh for god's sake these are kids. They were fighting for months. The mother of the boy is at much to blame here. Her kid torchured the girl for months. The girl threw something at him of course wrong however she did not thing he was going to the hospital. It is ridiculous to think otherwise.

The mother of the boy has gone to the news many times about her son being "bullied" and "banning books" and other things.

There is a reason the mother of the boy has not sued yet

Stop judging the girl.

Are you the girls parents? The girl hit the boy with a metal object causing serious and life long injuries. The boy probably was bullied. Be real. Mcps failed to supervise. Mom cannot control what happens at school. How is hitting him with a metal object ok to you! That is a weapon.

DP, but I have actual brain cells. I know (for a fact bc my child was a witness) that this kid was the real bully. These are 12 year olds....she did the first thing she could think of in the moment after getting hit in the face and being called fat and stupid.I know it's so easy to judge from your point of view.."be real"

The first thing you can think of after getting hit in the face with a football is to pick up a METAL SPIKE and strike the boy in the head?

Not to throw the football back in his face? This makes sense to you?

I'm starting to think you're the one with the brain injury.

Christ… no wonder everyone thinks Mcps parents are the worst. You could use some help yourself.

Are you kidding? You’re the one justifying a child getting hit in the head with a metal spike, being intubated and losing a chunk of his skull and justifying this trauma on a flimsy accusation that he was the bully and not the girl who assaulted him.

You and your ilk are clearly deplorable.

DP… can you read? No one is saying what happened is fine…. But people with brains can also say, he’s not innocent. It’s not “flimsy” accusations when the entire student body knew was was happening but nah… you don’t wanna hear that.

I could see her throwing a ball back but she's dangerous. She chased and hit him with a metal rod causing a life long injury. How can you justify that. Many of us have kids who are bullied and they'd never retaliate like that.

Most 12 year olds would not chase a child off property, find a metal object and hit someone with it.

You are talking out of both sides of your mouth and you're a coward. You aren't saying the literal words "he deserved what happened to him" but that is precisely what you are inferring when you insist on accusing him of "bullying" the girl and continuously making statements such as "he's not innocent."

Shame on you.
