Why would my son's newly engaged ex-girlfriend randomly text him a photo of her wearing an engagement ring?

It is possible she sent to all her friends just like people post their engagement rings on Facebook. Still classless, but all OP's son had to do was delete her number.

Nobody accidentally sends a photo text to an ex, especially about an engagement. An ex from years ago should be the last thing on her mind.

She is certainly not the last thing on his and his mother's. Lol

Probably a good reminder that he can do much better than someone texting an old boyfriend right after getting engaged. That one is not a keeper.

The best revenge is living well, not dwelling on past hurts.

He randomly got a photo text from her over the weekend with no caption, just her hand showing off her engagement ring. What motivates such a text from a 27 year old woman and what reaction is she looking for?

Spite.

If OP’s son took a photo of the engagement ring he just gave to his fiancée or the ring on the fiancée’s finger and sent it to the old ex-gf this entire forum would rip him to shreds. Absolutely nobody would say, oh it’s just an innocuous announcement blast.

This is a bizarre thing to do. If she was so happily engaged she wouldn't do this. She is saying you should have gotten me why you could and still pining for him.

It was a dig or

You think her fiancé knows she’s texting ex boyfriends?

He’s probably not insecure that she texted one exbf her happy news.

He should respond, “Yr open mouth is awaiting my harvest. Don’t spill a drop.”

It's possible she's engaged to RFK Jr

Oh no, your son is still single? How old is he? Do you think you’ll ever get grandchildren?!

I have a sorority sister like this and 15 or so years ago she snuck off and slept with her ex boyfriend while she and her new fiancé were visiting her parents during Thanksgiving or Christmas. So diabolical. I think she was even caught or at least the fiancé suspected something was up but she still ended up marrying the fiancé the next summer.

Without additional context it’s hard to say if this young lady is just fishing for attention or coyly trying to open the door for dialogue and a potential rendezvous. If he wants to cut to the chase: Don’t text back, call her.

Unless she’s literally waiting by her phone hoping he calls, a screenshot of that incoming call is going straight to her girlfriend group chat. A committee will workshop how she responds.

She absolutely still has feelings for him.
