The number of 20 something males who are convicted of driving over 100mph on the toll road in Ashburn is pretty shocking. It's a thing. They all seem to get community service and a big fine. It’s really easy to get a reckless in VA and I haven’t heard of anyone getting locked up for it. Do they have the space in jail for that many people?

I know a couple people who had DUIs years ago and at most they only had like an afternoon in jail.

Speeding is very common. Maybe he was trying to get around some asshat sitting the left lane and had to speed up for that.

Is it great? No. Is it a big deal? Also, no.

We have actual issues at hand here.

Almost everyone speeds on the highway. Your ability to evaluate risk is fcked up.

World of difference between speeding and doing 116 on a public road. Roads simply aren’t made for that speed, and the closing speed is not something other road users are going to expect.

It takes an aggressive disregard for the law to do that. Just what you want in an AG…

The faux outrage about this is precious coming from the Don't Tread on Me crowd.

The Autobahn is built to way higher standards than I64. German licensing is also far stricter and Germans understand that vehicles may be moving that fast and use lanes appropriately.

They also have trains that go even faster so people in an actual hurry can just do that.

Virginians are indeed the worst at using lanes appropriately.
