Virginia Democratic AG Candidate Arrested in 2023 for Driving 116 MPH on I-64

That exchange is odd. The way she says “jay jones” again, odd.

We could have had Shannon Taylor as the AG candidate to challenge Miyares. There's no indication of similar skeletons in her closet.

I'm going to hold my nose and vote for Miyares for the first time, because Jones seems totally unacceptable to me. He is turning out to be a complete tool in all aspects of his life.

No rational person is choosing Miyares over Jones, Miyares is a trumper fascist nut job.

I think I’ll choose democracy? Just call me crazy.

Exactly.

Someone who will bend over for Trump for the next Big Lie…or someone with a lead foot?

Not even a question.

One very well could have killed you, the rest is just moral outrage. I'd personally rather be outraged and alive.

Almost everyone speeds on the highway. Your ability to evaluate risk is fcked up.

World of difference between speeding and doing 116 on a public road. Roads simply aren’t made for that speed, and the closing speed is not something other road users are going to expect.

It takes an aggressive disregard for the law to do that. Just what you want in an AG…

Oh for God's sake. "Public roads aren't made for that speed" - tell that to the Germans.

The faux outrage about this is precious coming from the Don't Tread on Me crowd.

The Autobahn is built to way higher standards than I64. German licensing is also far stricter and Germans understand that vehicles may be moving that fast and use lanes appropriately.

They also have trains that go even faster so people in an actual hurry can just do that.

Virginians are indeed the worst at using lanes appropriately.

Sure. Jay jones has shown he is unfit for this position.

I don't care if the guy was caught speeding if he fights back against money being stolen from the state of Virginia. Miyares' bootlicking is allow outright theft from Virginians.

Odds that there is more? I'm guessing pretty high. Total vetting failure by the state party and primary voters.

And now some of Jones' tweets are coming out in which he said the child of a political rival deserved to die.

The guy is a complete moron and d-bag. So pissed that he is going to lose to Miyares when we could have elected a competent Democrat, but Jay Jones deserves to see his political career come to a halt. What an idiot this guy turned out to be. And the fact that his prime defender is a Democrat who served time for dealing crack doesn't help the party, either.

Jay Jones never should have run with so many skeletons in his closet. The Democratic Party needs to exile him permanently because he's going to get Miyares re-elected as AG, and that's going to position Miyares to mount a viable candidacy for governor in 2029.

Apart from that, it bothers me that he went ahead and pursued the nomination knowing that this would get dug up at some point before the election. He could and should have stepped aside to allow another Democratic candidate like Shannon Taylor to run against Miyares.

Spanberger still has my vote, but I can't vote for Hashmi knowing that she's a big proponent of a casino in Tysons, and now I can't vote for Jones either. WHY CAN'T THE DEMOCRATS FIELD BETTER CANDIDATES?!?

He’s not Jason Miyares. I would crawl naked over broken glass to vote against Miyares.

Tell me when Jason Miyares raised the idea of a political opponent getting shot, or expressed glee at the thought of their kid getting killed.

Jay Jones is scum and if you continue to support him so are you.

Both Spanberger and Hashmi are now distancing themselves from Jay Jones as fast as they possibly can. The reckless speeding he probably could have survived politically. The speeding plus the death wishes for his political adversary and his child, coming out as it has now, is the end of his political career.

Also, his 500 "service hours" to stay out of jail were with his own PAC. Not a good look.
And, it took the cops 3 miles to get him to stop.

Wishing political adversaries to get a bullet? Troubling.

What he told Coyner on the phone? Demented.

I hope the people saying that they would vote for a guy who is wishing death upon people's kids are really Republicans trying to make Democrats look bad. Sadly I'm sure that there are still Democrats who would vote for such a person. I wish this country could get back to voting for the person rather than being so hyper partisan.

Lots of people figured the 116MPH business was the smoke to the death-wish fire. Nobody sane behaves that way.

Shills should have saved their energy and credibility for a better candidate.
