I am so sick of portals and being nagged to confirm appointments

I swear it seems every doctor and lab has a different portal. And every appointment from a doctor or dentist apparently involves multiple reminders in the weeks before and multiple requests to confirm via text or whatever.

It is maddening sometimes.

Rant off.

And you show up and they hand you a damn ipad every appt asking you to do their job for them.

I mean in general I think digitalization is a good thing. But yeah, it isn’t actually resulting in more efficiency I don’t think.

Yes and the survey after every appointment asking how they fid.

FWIW, I love them. I love not having them call me to confirm, and I love filling out the "paperwork" before I get there and not have to sit in the waiting room filling it out.

I am guessing my doctors are more organized since I get a text to confirm, which takes me to the link to fill out the forms. Then I get a text 24 hrs before to remind me of my appointment. What I love about this is it gives me an option to cancel and reschedule without having to call.

I appreciate them.

I agree it would be nice if they all had one shared portal! I hate having to fill out the same thing over and over for different offices.

OP here and maybe it’s just my dentist but sometimes it seems like I get multiple requests to confirm I’m coming even after I answer the first time.

Also, I don’t know when Doctor’s offices started calling to confirm. Yes, I am coming. I wouldn’t have made an appointment otherwise.

That’s why it’s good to have multiple doctors like I do in the Johns Hopkins system, where they all access my same info in the same portal.

Why are you going to the doctor so much?

PP here. You are clearly organized. Many people aren't and don't show up for appointments. Oh! I forgot! I'm very organized, but I've had this happen to me.

Also, it might be that you are confirming but not clicking on the attached to fill out the documentations--the same forms you fill out in the office, only now available online. It saves everyone time if forms are already done when you get there.

I was irritated by them until I figured them out. Now, as mentioned, I love them. But I hate people calling me, and I hate sitting in a waiting room (especially with a bunch of sick people) having to fill out all those forms.

I agree with you OP. I have a chronic medical condition, so I spend a lot of time going to medical appointments, and all the reminders are highly annoying.

I don’t mind the reminders except I hate confirming an appointment one month or even one week out.

If you don't confirm, then yes, they'll keep reminding you. When I confirm I always get a remind the day before with the possibility to cancel.
