You see one and then get referred out for a million other things. You're either a doctor person and you have a million doctors and appointments or you're not and you never go. That's been my experience. |
Especially awful and problematic doing this on someone’s behalf; had to access online portals for years for my elderly parents. |
| I ignore and delete them. |
I would complete the surveys if they pay me for it. |
| Is this the neurology center? I received literally 11 communications from them for one appointment, ranging from reminders, to phone calls to confirm after I already confirmed via text message, to requests to rate the appointment. Literally 11 texts, emails, and phone calls. And it wasn’t like I wasn’t responsive! I responded to everything that required a response. |
| Amen, OP |
| Agreed, who has time. You can set up a rule in your Gmail to have these go to trash. The doctor won’t cancel your appointment in my experience. They can call if they can’t live without the confirmation. |
| This is my pet peeve as well! And most of the, are a crappy UI. |

I work for a therapy practice that uses a portal. For ours, you can request to have reminders turned on or off. Maybe your doctor’s office has a similar option. For our practice like many others, there’s a pricey missed appointment fee so most people prefer them turned on.
Personally I need these reminders as it’s a lot to keep track of appointments for myself, my kids and my pets on top of things like my hair appointments. But I do hate that there are so many different portals and I find it annoying when doctors ask for me to complete forms online only to hand me the iPad when I arrive to do it again. |
| I learned a long time ago to not get bothered by small things like this. In the grand scheme of things, is a text message, email, or having to fill out info on an ipad that big of a deal? No. I found myself being much much happier and having a lot less stress when I just stopped letting small things annoy me. |
| I ignore them. I do reply to text messages confirming my appointments. |
This. And they don’t issue statements anymore. The last time I questioned a text asking for money, I was snail mailed a pile of papers and told to call BCBS myself. |
Working for free is not a small thing, PP. You can opt out of text reminders and notifications. I let them all go to email. |
| I am annoyed by the pre-check process. They claim it’s a time saver?? Maybe for the office staff, but not for me (taking pictures of both sides of my insurance card, etc). Then, they ask you to arrive 15 minutes early for no reason since you have completed the pre-check. |
