Who do you think is going to win and why?

This is a theme around the country. The chatter in factories, churches, barber shops and beauty salons is that African Americans do not believe she is black. They believe she’s 100% Indian, another Rachel Doleza.

“People are saying” is a bunch of bullcrap.

You’re not African American. Don’t speak on what you don’t understand. You’re a partisan Karen in denial.

“People are saying” that YOU are full of crap. I heard from a friend who heard from a friend who heard it from a friend who said you were trolling around.

Oh wow, you’re a real ADOS, eh? Definitely not white. Definitely not some cracked-out intern seeking the dopamine hit he got from j’ing off to the rally. Tell us more, please. We certainly don’t want any Rachel “Doleza” types running around amirite? You’re like the Plessy court and a beta copy of 23 and Me had a baby.

The black swan event was MSG

Nobody is changing their vote because some comedian many people have never heard of made a bad joke hours before Trump took the stage.

This isn't about changing votes at this point. Everybody has made their choice and millions have actually already voted. It's getting out the vote.

For the millions and millions and millions that already know Trump is a jackass, this helps seal the deal that they need to get out there and vote about it.

I actually do think the "jokes" about Latinos and Puerto Rico could actually sway votes.

It's easy if those comments are not about you or your home to say "whatever, it was just a joke and Trump didn't actually say it." If those comments are ABOUT you, or about where you grew up or where your family lives, it's not possible to do that.

I think there are Puerto Ricans and Latinos who were planning to vote for Trump for economic reasons who will now change to Harris or not vote because they are too personally offended. Those jokes were really egregious. I think they are enough to sway votes.

Do you know a lot of Hispanic and Latino families? This is being widely talked about but I’m not sure it’s changing votes the way you think. Spanish-speaking humor and jokes in Mexico and in other parts of Latin America can be dark and borderline offensive. There are a lot of Latinos who think mainstream Americans have become too weak and lacking in humor, and are too easily offended. I am just not sure this is the black swan event that a lot of Harris voters want, and I am a Harris voter.

He’s daring people to vote for him by testing the waters.

He’s insulted women.
He’s insulted Blacks.
He’s insulted Latinos.
He’s insulted people with disabilities.
He’s insulted Haitians.
He’s insulted Puerto Ricans.
He’s insulted veterans.
He’s insulted disabled veterans.
He’s insulted POWs.
He’s insulted low-income white men (fat p-igs).

If people aren’t offended by that, by all means prove his point that he’s better than you.

Look, you cannot demand people be offended. In fact that usually really backfires. The Democrats are leaning in on this — which reeks of desperation — but they risk making Trump more attractive, not less attractive.

The better response would have been to do a metaphorical eye roll and mercilessly mock the Republicans for being so desperate they had to hire a comedian who was so bad he resorted to unfunny insults. By leaning into the offensive aspects and not the “my God you must be desperate” aspects, it legitimizes the “party of rebellion” message that Trump had been selling.

The Democrats continually struggle with letting their speech totalitarianism side leak out too much, and this is not an exception. I just don’t think this is going to have the impact that Harris voters want. I’m a Harris voter but this top-down message of controlling speech is a loser for Democrats (except the extreme leftists who would love to entirely control all speech forever).

I do think Harris will win, because of a better GOTV campaign in swing states, but I don’t think leaning hard into how offensive Trump is will work. It hasn’t before and it’s not going to work now. People know he is an offensive jerk. For many voters, that is literally his appeal.

and for many it's just one of many reasons why he is so grotesque and unacceptable

And I was like uh no, this will make him ‘relatable’ to people you and I don’t hang with. It’s the same. Ooh, this army of chinless weaklings say terrible things, how edgy! It doesn’t work. GOTV and treating them as insignificant, engaging less with trolls, which is so hard for me personally, has to be the way.

It's not remotely the same

In the case of GWB, that's an unscripted moment that seems authentic and real - in what is otherwise a pretty reserved and normal package

In the case of Trump, it's just constant. And he seems illiterate and unhinged. Just hate, hate, insults, more insults, spewing from his ugly mouth for a decade straight. He would have been much better off if he could have exercised the smallest amount of control this time - WE'D have been worse off because I think he might have tricked people into thinking he's a whole new man. But it's constant, and obscene, and offensive, and ENOUGH. Also it's not directed at one person who everyone kind of understands why you don't like that guy - it's a firehose, directed at everyone. And it's coming from a guy who's earned nothing for himself his whole stupid life. He'd have more money today if he put the fortune daddy gave him in an index fund.

The wilder the posts here about Harris the most desperate I figure the Trumpies are, although I concede that is not a real measure

Yet Kamala is the one pulling ads from North Carolina tv because she’s losing badly in the state.

You are not speaking for all African Americans. Not even remotely. The overwhelming majority of African Americans do not believe that BS and do not have any issue with her race. You weird MAGA people are the outlier.

Just a shout out for the excellent REO Speedwagon tribute. Totally read that in rhythm and melody!

I was tentative before but I think Kamala is going to win and it's going to be a landslide.

I just heard about the Puerto Rico thing tonight. It does not seem like a real story to me. There are precisely zero voters in this country who were leaning towards Trump but changed their minds upon getting some CNN anchor express concern about some bit performed by a comedian they've never heard of.

More generally, news coverage of the rally has felt like editorial content.

Harris.

Women.

The early voting returns and cross-tabs on the polls point to a landslide for Harris.

The Trump camp seems to be mired in mass delusion of the sort not seen since Romney lost so badly.

Puerto Rico comment = Trump is done-ski

Nobody wants to listen to her moronic rambling for 4 years. People also have no idea who she is because she refuses to tell them. Terrible, really.

Oh, she is the moron?

She rambles?

You have totally lost the plot.
