TSJFC

High school age former FCV GA parent here. Left this time last year when all the coaches left and Adam was spewing the same BS. Sounds like nothing has changed. You are smart to vote with your feet.

Bringing it back to the topic: TSJ management and why people are leaving… I’ll be specific.

Throughout the year there has been last minute planning, terrible communication, and an expectation that parents and players can be present for anything from club meetings to location changes to last min games with like hours notice. A couple of meetings have occurred, but they have been badly organized. A major meeting occurred in the stands of the TSJ and no one could hear them. Adam speaks the entire time and there’s very little useful information, just a regurgitation of what is in the marketing materials.

There has also been inconsistent availability and use of facilities and fields. One of the draws of the TSJ is the indoor facilities, but we are lucky if we use those 1/week. Then on top of that…

1. In the fall there was one 2016 team. It included a handful of 2017s. 2017s were supposed to play up a year and then drop to lead the new U9s/2017. The parents of the 2017s have been asking where the incoming 2017s are and if there will be a team. They were ignored and later dismissed as an unreasonable question.

2. In the beginning of the spring season a few girls were separated at practice with no explanation. It started seeming like they were creating a new team, but no one told us. Parents asked and were again ignored and dismissed. A couple weeks in several girls were rostered for two teams, in games 45+ min away from each other. There was no explanation why, and when parents started speaking up they finally told us that there would be not 2 but *three* 2016 teams (2 in Springfield and 1 in Loudon) and that our girls would need to help fill the gaps in the rosters. They walked this back when they realized it was untenable. Why they created teams without complete rosters is still unclear…

3. They suddenly made a bunch of staffing and coaching changes with no notice to parents. The 2016 coach would not be returning. We were told it was because his wife is having a baby, which is obviously horse shit. He loves the team, and wouldn’t have chosen to leave. Coaches change, and that’s OK… but how they change matters and says a lot about people.

4. We still have not met the new coach and really don’t know anything about him. We have been asking. When it became clear this was a problem, they scheduled a meeting to meet him (this coming Monday).

5. They sent us contracts / offers this past week, and expected us to sign them before meeting the new coach. We also haven’t had tryouts, so have no idea if they will even rosters for a 2016 or 2017 team. One of the parents asked if we could have more time, and they straight up ignored her. Still haven’t responded.

More broadly… it is super clear that the goals of the people running the club, and those of the coaches are totally different. For a bit the coaches were able to ignore the leadership bs and run the practices and team decisions as they saw fit. That has changed, and it seems the coaches no longer have as much of a say.

Put differently: Adam has a vision that the coaches did not agree with. He is now replacing the people who do not agree with him.

Bottom line: it’s been an absolutely terrible experience, and Adam has somehow managed to take at least a few teams from enthusiastic and connected to pissed off, disappointed, and leaving.

Maybe they figure it out in the next couple years, but most of us don’t want our kids to be collateral damage and miss critical developmental years.

Which neighboring club’s admin who poached via dollars not just coaches but entire teams from FCV would spend time and energy writing this post? Your ‘merger’ acquisition didn’t yield enough interest and digital traffic? Awwwwww I wonder why

PP here. You are welcome to Dulude yourself into thinking I am whoever will make you feel better… But I am a parent of a girl on the 2016 squad. For most of us this club is a big commute, and for a bit it was worth it. Definitely no longer, and I can only see it getting worst — especially considering the warnings of parents from last year… All the issues they had pointed to have exponentially deteriorated.

For parents reading this, you’ve been warned.

(Also how would a neighboring club know anything about the timing of offers / meeting the new coach / tryouts?)

Every accusation is a confession. So since it’s clear TSG management is on here… You all have dug your own grave. Players, parents, and coaches are key to success… you treated them all as disposable. So, good luck.

As the saying goes: people don’t leave jobs, they leave bosses.

2016 girl parent here. It’s hilarious that someone on here keeps trying to change the subject. First insulting intelligence and education, then trying to shift blame to another club for lying and trying to throw shade in here to tarnish TSJs reputation. The ppl running TSJ need no help tarnishing their reputation, they’ve done a great job of that on their own.

No one here is trying to hurt TSJ… just trying to warn other parents considering it.

We have been at TSJ for a couple of years and just finished tryouts at a few clubs. Hard not to feel short changed when I see the same age group elsewhere practicing at a whole other level. Not to mention we speak directly to the coaches… I hadn’t realized how much control TSJ management has taken from the coaches.

Yup. they take everything so personally and try to shift blame to the parents. It’s easy to say parents are unreasonable, but so many have had the same experience over a couple of years… Maybe they should take a look in the mirror. Or maybe not because Adam will be hovering over their shoulder

Man I feel so bad for the new coach. No one is leaving because of the new guy!

Maybe the new guy should ask himself if wants to work with the people who treated the existing coach that way and caused all this.

Thanks for sharing it’s really helpful as we make decisions. How was the first day of tryouts? We plan to be there tonight and are excited to see the indoor facilities.

TSJ in Springfield has the potential to be really great. We saw a lot of kids progress to a high level in 1 year... that was a few years back though and things appeared to have changed a lot. But, hopefully, we're rooting for them and for things to change back for the better, especially the younger kids.

We saw the potential too. Unfortunately, we no longer see it. Day-to-day management, facilities, and basic respect for parents and club culture… We’ve been disappointed over and over. On top of that we are realizing that the hyper focus on individual technical ability has put the younger kids in a position where they cannot keep up with the passing and field movement and awareness of other teams.

Breaking point: they made coaching and staffing changes halfway through the season… it was unnecessarily shady and dramatic and just felt icky.

Maybe things turn around but we can’t waste our kids key dev years waiting for them to get their shit together.

Also a 2016 girl parent here. Apparently management said that if we didn’t like it to leave and that is exactly what a lot players are doing.

Wow is right. These people are crazy. Based on our experience this year , TSJ will fold the GA program sometime over the next year.

I’m jumping in here in defense of PP. I am the person who wrote the very first post in this TSJ thread less than a year ago. I can confirm that this previous poster’s recounting a few posts back is 100% accurate and has been our identical experience. And we are in the North. I didn’t believe that one man could burn down a club. Sadly it is all absolutely true. And heartbreaking. And no, we are not returning.

And the infantile response here to PP which I am nearly positive is from the club who spends a lot of time on this board is pretty indicative of the spirit and tone of this club. And I promise you, childish words and mistruths will be the least of your problems. Parents, you’ll do what you want to do and you may decide on calculated risk as we had, but yes, you’ve been warned. I get it: it really is hard to comprehend the level of dysfunction, toxicity, lack of integrity, and chaos without experiencing it for yourself. Enter at your own risk.

And there are maybe 2 good folks left so if you are reading this, thank you for all you try to do for our players in the face of insurmountable odds. I hope you know who you are because you are good coaches with good hearts. We will miss you. And I really hope you have not been beaten into thinking otherwise about yourselves.
