Out of curiosity, I looked up what Dolly had to say about Taylor. While Dolly was very gracious, she didn’t actually have anything nice to say. Dolly said that she doesn’t follow Taylor’s music, that touring is hard, so props to Taylor for doing it, and last but not least that she (Dolly) would be just there to work on the half-time show and wouldn’t be in the crowd watching before of after. That’s hardly an example of gushing praise.

I hate this thread too, because it shows me how fanatical people can get about a middling talent.

DP but I have no problem "tolerating" the fact that many people like Taylor Swift. I have several huge Swifts in my immediate family and friend circle, and it doesn't bother me. Out of respect for them and a desire not to yuck their yum, I keep my negative feelings about Swift to myself.

But that's why I like this thread. Because I do have these thoughts about Swift. I find her music grating and her public persona fake and obnoxious. And in the last 6 months, she's gone from "celeb I hear about sometimes" to a daily topic of conversation at home, work, on TV, etc. So this thread is a nice way to blow off steam about how I don't like this person everyone seems so obsessed with.

But you can't even let me have this one tiny corner of the internet to share these opinions. Why??? Since I know a bunch of Swifties, I know that there are many, many venues, both online and elsewhere, where people who love Swift can share their love, totally unimpeded by "haters." So why would you choose this, of all places, to waste your time?

I’m not sure why Gigi Hadid is being held up as any sort of “artist,” but if you think that anyone of those people listed above paid a single cent to see Taylor’s concert, I have a bridge to sell you.

DP but I have no problem "tolerating" the fact that many people like Taylor Swift. I have several huge Swifts in my immediate family and friend circle, and it doesn't bother me. Out of respect for them and a desire not to yuck their yum, I keep my negative feelings about Swift to myself.

But that's why I like this thread. Because I do have these thoughts about Swift. I find her music grating and her public persona fake and obnoxious. And in the last 6 months, she's gone from "celeb I hear about sometimes" to a daily topic of conversation at home, work, on TV, etc. So this thread is a nice way to blow off steam about how I don't like this person everyone seems so obsessed with.

But you can't even let me have this one tiny corner of the internet to share these opinions. Why??? Since I know a bunch of Swifties, I know that there are many, many venues, both online and elsewhere, where people who love Swift can share their love, totally unimpeded by "haters." So why would you choose this, of all places, to waste your time?

DP. I like Taylor but this is just so naive. Of course she doesn’t have to but she absolutely does drum up interest in her projects in various ways just like every other entertainer. We have seen when she was in her folklore era how rarely she was spotted. I think she is very smart in how she does things and seems to be focused on maximizing press when she has a project coming out (like with the Travis relationship and her film) or when she is helping her friends (like when she was conspicuously papped with Sophie turner after Joe tried to trash her). Even if you look at how she has handled he re-recordings. When she changed lyrics in “all to well” to make it even clearer it was about Jake G the resulting press around that helps drive streams of her version.
