Moco BOE
@mocoboe
The Montgomery County Board of Education will no longer post on X, formerly Twitter. We encourage you to follow us on Bluesky, Instagram, and Facebook. Thank you.

That's one way to NOT be transparent. The goal of the BOE should be to reach the greatest amount of people. Instead, they are throwing some type of political temper trantrum. If anyone doubts that the BOE isn't political, I have news for you.

Cool.

Good for them!

People comment more on Twitter. They don't want comments.

They're not obligated to post on every social media platform. Are you also upset they don't post on Truth Social?
Anonymous
Excellent.

This seems fine. X is a dumpster fire at this point and forcing public servants to subject themselves it is not reasonable.

Most legitimate organizations have quit X. It’s a cesspool. That is not a political move.

BOE is an elected position btw, by definition it’s political.

It’s odd that you believe X is still relevant.

Elon's ownership of X/Twitter given his enmeshed alliance and role with the Trump administration makes this a legitimate decision. Though I also think staying on the platform is also a legitimate decision.

Twitter, which used to be a neutral platform, has itself become highly political.

They can stay or go on the platform. They just need to determine how they allow folks to engage. (i.e whether they allow comments). Invest in a tool like Hootsuite to easilyy schedule and distribute content.
Anonymous
Too much unbridled disinformation on X now. I wouldn't trust any posts on X anymore.
Anonymous
Why this is a pressing issue requiring immediate action by the board of education, I do not know.

They aren't on myspace either.

Twiitter has become a šhìthölé and is a mere shadow of it's former self. They should be over on bluesky now since that has become more like what twitter once was.

X is not a widely popular platform anymore. No need to post there.

I agree with both sides here. They don’t have to post on X and it’s not what it once was. But this also is an odd thing to announce with no explanation because of questionable optics.
