Update on mentally ill suitemate

Anonymous
Thought I’d post an update about the sex offender in my son’s suite. Officials came and moved him out yesterday. I contacted the crime reporter for the local paper, and she started making some calls. That and me posting on the parents’ facebook page seems to have done the trick. Being a gadfly and protesting en masse can get things done. Hopefully the kid can go home and receive the treatment he so desperately needs.

If they are over 18, that reporter is probably going to publicize their name.

Good. Glad you're nagging or whatever we shall call it got the ball rolling. You did the right thing.

I'm so glad you were able to get this resolved. No doubt the roommates are feeling less stressed now.

Why do you assume that any of this happened BECAUSE of your actions? Narcissist.

I expect this kind of response at night, but certainly not during the day.

Yes. Interestingly, another (not crazy) suitemate is a graduate of St. Albans. So maybe someone in the Big 3 gossip network can corroborate my story. The other post was locked, and I was accused of being a troll.

Good for you, OP! Advocating for your son was absolutely the right thing to do.

What school?

Poor guy is suffering from possible serious mental illness. HIPPA blocked any discussion with you OP.

I do hope he’s not treated like a criminal, but he does need intensive treatment off-campus.

Good for you OP. I skimmed the other thread and you did try the normal channels first.

Made me think of the college girl who had the 30+ y.o. suitemate. Was that thread real? I hope action was taken there too if so.

I know these 18 yos are "adults" but it's still a new and hard time.

Good job OP. Colleges have serious federal duties to address sexual harassment/sex crimes. It sounds like some low-intelligence campus police and administrators didn’t realize that this is a sex crime until you pushed the issue.
